| PurposeTo explore the association between eczema in children with gastrointestinal heat retention syndrome and other related factors, such as dietetic structure of children and their parents, medical and allergic history of children and their parents and habitation environment,by collecting information from the participants and practicing four diagnostics of TCM.All above may help to provide a theory support and treatment evidence for prevention, clinical diagnosis and treatment of children with eczema.MethodA case-control study was carried out in outpatients who aged 1-14 years old from Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Children’ Hospital Affiliated to Capital institute during July to December in 2017,and the participants were recruited into case group(children with eczema)and control group(children without eczema).101 cases from case group and 129 cases from control group were enrolled eventually in consideration of conditions such as incompatibility and data loss.Questionnaires were applied to investigate the general demographic data and several related factors including age, gender, height, weight, dietetic structure of parents and children, medical and allergic history of parents and children, habitation environment et al.The gastrointestinal heat retention syndrome was identified by a diagnosis scale specific for children.Microsoft Excel was used to input and check data twice, and SPSS 21.0 was used for statistical analysis.Logistic regression model was used to explore the association between gastrointestinal heat retention syndrome and other related factors with eczema in children.ResultResults from logical regression showed that:①41 cases(40.59%)of children with eczema were diagnosed as gastrointestinal heat retention syndrome, compared with 8 cases(6.20%)in children without eczema(P<0.001,OR=7.200,95%CI:2.574-20.138).②Multivariate analysis showed that aversion to heat(P=0.002,OR=2.401,95%CI[1.395,4.130]),vermilion of the lip(P=0.014,OR=1.952,95%CI[1.148,3.318]),feverish palms and soles(P=0.013,OR=2.402,95%CI[1.203,4.794]),history of pediatric dermatosis(P=0.001,OR=36.959,95%CI:4.623-295.491)and gender(P=0.016,OR=2.514,95%CI:1.190-5.309)were positively correlated with eczema in children. There was no significant correlation between the incidence of eczema in children with factors such as engorgement, sweet tooth, humid residence, positive allergen detection, history of parents’respiratory disorders and the history of parents’ dermatosis(P>0.05).Conclusion1.The gastrointestinal heat retention syndrome was positively associated with eczema in children. With the condition of gastrointestinal heat retention syndrome aggravated,it may increase the risk of eczema in children.2.Aversion to heat, vermilion of the lip, feverish palms and soles are highly correlated with eczema in children.3.History of pediatric dermatosis and female issues should not be ignored in the pathogenesis of eczema in children.4.We should try to minimize the incidence of dermatosis in children, and at the same time, diet should be light to reduce the induction of gastrointestinal heat retention syndrome for prevention of eczema in children. |
