Embodied Cognition has been focusing on Nonverbal Behavior for long. From how we fake a smile enhances positive feelings,to how we pose affect self-sense of power.Embodiment is trying to claim that cognition lies in body, and body lies in environment.Body is one of the key factors during Cognition. But be enslaved to Embodiment itself and the limitation of study tools, how does the manipulation on body transferred onto cognition can not be explained in details. It is also lack of objective data.Recent studies have found that personal sense of power can be manipulated through “power pose”,but the results vary. Our study first explained sense of power, nonverbal behavior and risk taking behavior in theory and its development. To provide a hypothesis that a manipulation on boy yield an effect on cognition is possible. And further to replicate previous studies and attempt to make an exploration. Our study first extracted an scale from Park et al to identify that postures been studied by former studies is effective.According to the results of our pre-research,we then organized study 1,the result from study 1 showed that the effect of body postures can’t be replicated and the possible reason is the unreliability of the gambling tasks.Experiment 2 is the improvement of the gambling tasks. The result shows these improved tasks are reliable to distinguish high power group from low power group.Experiment 2 is another replication of the “power pose” study with the new gambling task from experiment 1 and a new instruction given to participants. The result shows that body postures still yield no effects on participants’ sense of power. Thus,we can draw a conclusion that although specific body postures can be identified as high power or low power, they can not yield an effect on personal sense of power.
