Chinese Poetry "goes Out"

Based on the previous study,this paper analyzes "Going Global" of classical Chinese poetry,Su Shi’s poetry and its English translations and Su Shi’s poetry of Lin Yutang’s translation.It makes a multi-perspective study about Su Shi’s poetry of Lin’s translation from the perspectives of reproducing artistic ideorealm and translation strategy.As for reproducing artistic ideorealm,the paper first summarizes the definition of artistic ideorealm and then reproduces phonology and image of Su Shi’s poetry in Lin’s translation.For reproducing phonology,this paper is mainly focused on the rhyme and rhythm.As for reproducing image,the paper analyzes it from four levels,descriptive images,metaphorical images,symbolic images and allusive images.As for the translation strategy,the author firstly states the theory of domestication and foreignization,then discusses Lin’s application of domestication and foreignization in translating Su Shi’s poetry.The application of domestication translation strategies is mainly in following four aspects:domestication in literary form,vocabulary,sentence structure and image.When translated names of people and place,cultural bearing words,and allusion,Lin used foreignization.Lin Yutang combined the two strategies when he translated the poems according to its feature.All these is trying to make it clear why it is a success to realize the spreading of Chinese poetry and enlighten the reference for the "Going Global" of Chinese poetry.The purpose of this paper is trying to enrich the academic study of Lin and explore the road for "Going Global" of Chinese poetry.Through the multi-perspective studies of Su Shi’s poetry of Lin Yutang’s.translation,this paper aims to generalize the factors of Lin’s success of being a good sample of spreading Su Shi’s poetry,show the significance reference for the "Going Global" of Chinese poetry and hope there will be more Chinese poetry well-received by foreign readers.The paper shows the greatness and charm of Chinese poetry in translation and promote the cultural exchanges between the east and the west.
