Parental Psychological Control, The Relationship Between Children's Emotional Regulation And Social Withdrawal | | Posted on:2018-12-30 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Q Zhang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2355330518470074 | Subject:Pre-primary Education | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Social withdrawal refers to various solitary behavior children shown in familiar or unfamiliar situations.It’s one of the most frequent internalizing problems in preschool children,has been shown to be potential risk factors affecting children’s low perspective taking ability,low self-esteem,loneliness and depression.It will have many negative effects on children’s social development.According to the social development theory of Bandura and cognitive development theory of Piaget,peer interaction is the basic way for children to learn social rules,and to improve social skills.Lack of peer interaction will affect children’s social development process.It’s not conducive to the healthy development of children.Therefore,researchers pay more attention to those children who are away from their peers and explore the influencing factors and the formation mechanism of social withdrawal.The influencing factors of social withdrawal are complex and diverse.This study attempts to explore the specific causes of this behavior from two perspectives: Children’s emotion regulation and parental psychological control.Parents are good at using psychological control to exert influence on the growth of their children.They impose their ideas on their children to control their children’s thoughts.But in recent years,studies have shown that parents psychological control will lead to excessive children’s negative self-concept,poor emotional function,and problem behaviors,and the adverse effects have been produced in the early stage.Parke and Buriel(2006)put forward the theory of "Emotional regulation works as the intermediary variable between parent-child interaction and children" s social ability.Therefore,children’s emotion regulation strategies may play a special role in the relationship between parental psychological control and social withdrawal.In this study,we used the cluster sampling method to select 420 participants aged 3-6years old from a kindergarten in Ji’nan.By using the method of questionnaire,the teachers evaluate the children’s social withdrawal level in kindgarden,the parents evaluate children’s emotion regulation strategies,and their psychological control level on their children.The T test,correlation analysis,structural equation modeling were used to explore the generalcharacteristics of children’s social withdrawal,and the relationship with parental psychological control and emotion regulation strategies.The main conclusions are as follows:1.The age difference in children’s Social withdrawal score is not significant.The age difference in Passive withdrawal score is significant : from small to large classes decreased significantly;There were no significant gender difference in children’s Social withdrawal and the subtypes;Only children’s social withdrawal score was significantly higher than that of non-only children.Only children’s Passive withdrawal score was significantly higher than non-only children.2.There was a significant negative correlation between father’s protection of children and Passive withdrawal.There was a significant negative correlation between maternal emotional support and Passive withdrawal.There was a significant negative correlation between cognitive reconstruction strategy and Active withdrawal.There was a significant positive correlation between vent and Passive withdrawal.Passive coping was significantly positively correlated with shyness and Active withdrawal;3.Cognitive reconstruction worked as the compelet intermediary variable between the fathers’ Positive mental control and children’s Passive withdrawal.Psssive coping worked as the compelet intermediary variable between the fathers’ Passive mental control and children’s Shy slience,withdrawal.4.Psssive coping worked as the compelet intermediary variable between the mathers’ Passive mental control and children’s Shy slience,Active withdrawal. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Prescool children, Social withdrawal, Emotion regulation strategies, Parents’ mental control | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
