George Gershwin mainly engaged in songwriting in his early years , these songs were widely circulated with the image that easy to sing and full of melody. He was recognized as a world-class composer in 1924 by his jazz symphony " Rhapsody in Blue", the piano concerto with single movement. This work is the industry that widely recognized as the top work which is a combination of classical music and jazz music. At the same time,this work is also named "freak work" because he integrated Negro music, folk music of America and pop music into Piano . The structure of this work is relatively free like multi-theme, collage in free and so on. When we play this work , it can also reflects the fact that it has hard skills such as long distance jump,hard sentences, polytonal transformation to created a state that is non-concord but the rhythm of the special characteristics of the popular percussion. At the same time,when we play this work ,it provides with lots of possibilities, as a result , different pianists have their own way.George Gershwin is a special composer with different style in his work. People say that he is a cross-border composer because many of his works are jazz but based on classical techniques. It is a big challenge for pianists . In this paper , I attempt to discusses the "Rhapsody in Blue" in analyzing the style of the music, elaborating the characteristics of jazz language and the main points of playing technique.
