Interpretation Practice Report Of The Cooperation Forum Between Northwestern University Of Applied Sciences And Heilongjiang Institute Of Business And Technology

Guided by its own educational principles,Heilongjiang College of Business and Technology conducted a cooperative conference with College of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland,so as to learn experience for its transformation work.The author is commissioned by Heilongjiang College of Business and Technology as the interpreter for this conference.During the period of preparation,the author found that there were only a few international conferences as well as professional interpreters on transformation of colleges and universities wherever it is at home or abroad.In order to strengthen the recognition of college education transformation research,highlight the importance of interpreters in the international conference,improve the qualities of escort interpreters,the author analyzes and summarizes the cases of the task based on this interpreting practice.There are some disfluencies occurred in the process of the interpreting task,of which the author analyses the causes,namely lack of professional vocabulary,improper notes,withdrawal hesitancy and self-correcting interference;Then,the author sums up the corresponding coping strategies and techniques,including the use of subordinate clauses,the replacing of synonyms,deverbalizing the original discourse,and the use of effective fillers;Finally,the author summarizes the comprehensive ability that the interpreters should have in this type of conference,respectively to be well-prepared before interpretation,to improve the skill of note-taking,to maintain a proper pace of production as well as to have a better command of English.The author hopes that this report will serve as a useful experience for the interpreters with the latest materials available to researchers and educators in this field.
