Climate is a fundamental environmental factor,which effects the formation of traditional architecture throughout the world.Environmental factors such as climate,building materials,topography and socio-cultural differences affect the design of old settlements and traditional houses in vernacular architecture.Regardless of these factors,in order to achieve comfortable thermal levels in old settlements,different cooling and heating strategies must be implemented for various different climates.The traditional houses of Sana'a and south china are typical examples of structures that are adapted specifically to local climates.These two regions consider the environment by being eco-friendly and using natural resources to protect not only their surroundings but also the earth as a whole.And they are plotting of a Chinese traditional folk house located in Hunan province and Yemeni folk house located in Sana'a city was conducted.Ecological technologies of the Chinese traditional folk house and Yemeni traditional house in the hot-Summer and cold-Winter zone in Changsha and hot desert in Sana'a city were analyzed from site selection,general plane,plane design,section plane design,construction technologies,built materials,and so on.Based on the analysis results,proposals are suggested for modern residence design in the both regions.
