Albert Einstein(1879-1955)is a remarkable scientist, and he put forward unique philosophical views and propositions from diverse perspectives in his conducting of scientific research and discovery. The research of this thesis shows that Einstein's experiential theory has experienced a developmental course from skeptical and critical empiricism to the scientific rationalism, which is centered on the theory of sensationalism and empiricism. This thesis attempts to study the relevant contents of his theory of empiricism based on Einstein's epistemological thought. The first part elaborates the topic basis and significance of this research, lists the referential literature of experts and schoars both at home and from abroad, and points out the breakthroughs made in and the deficiency of this paper. The second part elaborates the influence on Einstein's theory of empiricism from Mach,Hume,Kant,Spinoza,Duhem and Poincare, etc. In the third part, based on the above influences analyzed, the paper reviews the constitutional the elements of his empiricism and analyzes the relationship between the elements, and summarizes the characteristics of the theory of empiricism. The fourth part carries on the evaluation of the positive significance and the limitation of Einstein's empiricism thought, and also discusses its enlightenment to later researches. Finally, the paper points out that Einstein's empiricist thought assimilates the reasonable part of traditional empiricism, abandons the radical ideas, and absorbs the essence of the traditional rationalist thought, which enables him to be a rationalist and achieve the dynamic subjective and objective unity while insisting on empiricism at the same time, and enhances the theme.Einstein's empiricist thought ran through the whole developmental phases of his philosophy of science.Although empiricism was not the mainstream or major contribution made by Einstein,it exerted great influence on the formation of Einstein's philosophy of science and on the advancement of scientific research, made great enlightenment for the innovation of contemporary philosophical and scientific thoughts. It is a great legacy left for the field of philosophy of science.
