The tribe Haplothripini(Karny)Priesner,belonged to the subfamily Phlaeothripinae of the family Phlaeothripidae in Thysanoptera,includes 573 species of 35 genera all over the world.Most species of the tribe were feeding on plants with several predator species,so many were pests and did harm to the agiculture and forestry.However,some species were helpful for the pollination of plants,and could prey on some other pests.A few taxonomy work were to be done about Haplothripini in China,and the new species and species lists were reported.Thus based on many specimens,Chinese Haplothrini are studied here including keys to the genera and species,which is useful for the subsequent work on Phlaeothripidae and helpful for the biological control.In this paper,the domestic and foreign research history,comparative morphology,biology,Classification research,fauna research,phylogenetic research of the Haplothripini(Karny)Priesner were studied.14 genera and 67 species of Haplothrini are identified and described.Based on the distribution characteristics,the fauna analysis of Haplothripini species was carried out.According to the maximal parsimony method,based on morphological and biological data,the phylogenetic relationship was explored.The following research results were obtained:1)About 2000 thrips slides were checked,and 14 genera and 67 species of Haplothrini are identified and described here.The morphological characteristics of new species and new records were photographed,and the keys to the genera and species were provided as well.Two new species and two new records are respectively: Podothrips yangxianensis sp.nov.,Xylaplothrips acutisetis sp.nov.,Mesothrips elaeocarpi Ananthakrishnan and Xylaplothrips subterraneun(Crawford).2)Based on the results of taxonomic studies,according to the distribution of 67 species of 14 genera in Haplothripini,preliminary study of its fauna characteristics in China.The results show: genus and species are distributed in the Palaearctic realm and Oriental realm,no endemic genera,endemic species with low percentage,broadly distributed species,Haplothrips has the highest species richness.Haplothripini species are most abundant in South China region.The fauna characteristics of Haplothrini are closely related to its biological learning and living environment.3)According to the maximum parsimony method,the most minimalistic tree is constructed using TNT v1.5,and all shapes are given equal weights.A total of 131 morphological features and four biological features were selected for the analysis of the Haplothripini.A maximum simple tree was obtained,and the results supported the monophyletic group of the Haplothripini,and the tree suggests that the genus Bamboosiella should be belonged to Haplothripini.
