Iron and steel resources are important foundation and strong backing of the development of national society and economy. With the rapid development of China's infrastructure and military capability, there is a serious shortage of iron and steel resources.Wuyang-Xincai Iron Mine is an important prospective area in Henan Province, and the proven resource of iron ore therein accounts for 76.3% of the proven reserves in Henan Province. Most of this area is covered by Quaternary. Therefore, processing and analyzing gravity/magnetic data, and studying the division of structural units, the delineation of favorable prospecting target areas provides geophysical basis for deep prospecting breakthroughs and lays a solid foundation for increasing iron ore reserves. This article relies on the project of “1:50,000 regional geological comprehensive survey for the package exploration area of Wuyang-Xincai Iron Mine in Henan Province”: qualitatively explaining and inferring gravity and magnetic characteristics by utilizing 1:50,000 gravity measurements in the survey area along with geological, mineral, aeromagnetic, drilling and other data; The characteristics of gravity and magnetic fields are qualitatively interpreted and inferred by means of minimum curvature method, reduced to the pole and NVDR-THDR.analyzing the spatial distribution characteristics of geological structures and rock structures in this area;and studying the spatial distribution of magnetic bodies in this area by conducting a 2.5D joint inverse of large-scale gravity and magnetic profile data in the key anomaly areas of the study area with RGIS software, which is constrained by drilling and other data.On the basis of analyzing the relationship between hidden magnetite and gravity/magnetic field,a comprehensive prospecting indicator is established with gravity/magnetic information as the main body, the prospecting mainly focusing on iron mine is conducted, and the target area for prospecting is selected, which provides basic information for exploiting large or extra-large deep hidden deposits.Based on the above research, the conclusion is that:(1)The gravity/magnetic anomalies within the survey area basically reflect the structural characteristics in the area.On the basis of the inference and interpretation of the fault, the bulge and depressions in the area are further divided into four bulges and one depression, which are in Chen Dian Bulge,Hewuji-Yuechengji secondary Bulge,Xincai-Wangwuqiao depression,Wangwuqiaoxi Bulge and Liancun-Fanghudian Bulge.Among them, the bulge of Wangwuqiaoxi was extended into the survey area, and the Chen Dian-Yuechengji Bulge was divided into Chen Dian Bulge and Yuechengji secondary Bulge..(2)Combining with the data of borehole, gravity and magnetic field characteristics, the strata in the survey area are reconsidered. This paper considers that the abnormal high area of Chendian is caused by the bulge of Taihua Group in Archaeozoic basement and the absence of Ordovician-Cambrian and Sinian strata. The abnormal high area of Liancun-Fanghudian is also caused by the basement bulge of Taihua Group in Archaeozoic. The strata are mainly Cenozoic and Archaeozoic strata, not the strata of Dunang-Jiantou area considered by predecessors as Taihua Group in Archaeozoic, and the strata of Liancun-Zhanglidian area are Taihua Group in Taigu. The Jurassic and Fanghudiannan strata are Ordovician.(3)Comprehensively analyzing and studying the aeromagnetic anomaly and gravity field characteristics in the survey area along with geological minerals, drilling and other data, the prospecting indicator is established,Namely polarized magnetic anomaly center and its gradient zone, gravity high anomaly center and gradient zone, have important prospecting significance.and four favorable iron prospecting targets have been delineated.
