A Study On The Efficiency Of China's Listed Shipbuilding Companies Based On The PCA-DEA Model

As an important part of China's real economy,the shipbuilding industry has been developing into a downturn in recent years.The new shipbuilding capacity is declining year by year.Severe overcapacity in the shipbuilding industry has resulted in the weakening of management efficiency,which has restricted the healthy development of China's shipbuilding industry.The main purpose of this paper is to study the operational efficiency of Listed Companies in China,the study is conducive to the establishment of observation method of the development of shipbuilding industry,and guide the healthy development of the industry,and to provide a reference case for the study of the operating efficiency of other industries.On the basis of existing literature,based on data envelopment model(Data Envelopment Analysis,DEA),this paper chooses 7 listed shipbuilding companies in China,using the data of the financial statements of the 2012-2014,extract a series related indicators of the input and output of the shipbuilding industry,and then use principal component analysis to reduce the dimension of the original series,then extracted the new series into the DEA model and combined with the Malmquist index.The results show that the comprehensive efficiency of the shipbuilding industry in our country is lower in the last three years,and the technical efficiency index at first increased and then decreased.Combined with the Malmquist method,we found that the efficiency of the total factor productivity of China's shipbuilding industry is rising in the year of 2012-2013,but in 2013-2014 it has declined.In this paper,the relevant reasons are analyzed,and the corresponding countermeasures are put forward.The research results of this paper have reference value for the analysis of the operational efficiency of the shipbuilding industry.
