Geothermal resources have attracted more and more attention as one of the new and clean energy sources in the world.China has rich geothermal resources and leads the world in overall usage of shallow geothermal resources. The QW area is located in the southern part of Linfen basin and its geothermal system is a typical low-temperature sedimentary reservoir with conduction-dominated heat flow.QW regional thermal reservoirs are mainly Paleozoic carbonate strata, including Ordovician and Cambrian carbonate karst fissuretype layered thermal reservoirs. The Ordovician heat reservoir development was the best with the total reservoir thickness of more than 300 m,and there are several permeable faults situated around the reservoir system which make a certain contribution to the recharge of the reservoir. Therefore, geothermal reservoir evaluation and assessment is an important part of geothermal resources development. In this study,a combined method based on Monte Carlo simulation and Volumetric modeling to characterize both the uncertainty of the temperature and volume of the reservoir was used. The results of the volumetric method indicated that the total heat content stored in 6 wells of QW area geothermal field was in the range of 5.53E+12 ~ 6.31E+13 kJ,with the recoverable energy of about 1.38E+12 ~ 1.58E+13 kJ.The simulation results revealed that it has good reservoir conditions for exploitation. To have better direct utilization of low-medium temperature geothermal resources in QW area, there is a need to consider using intensive technology of development and utilization on the industrial layout,to reduce energy waste, and to improve the efficiency of geothermal energy utilization. This thesis has 29 figures,11 tables and 80 references.
