In this paper,the ATP806 coalbed methane block in the north of Bowen basin is the study area.the Permian Rangle coal group as the target layer.the seismic data,well logging data,logging data,core data and analysis test data were collected.The characteristics of coal bed methane,gas composition,coal thermal maturity,permeability,gas saturation and coal seam maceral classification are analyzed.Furthermore,the reservoir forming conditions and the factors that affect the gas content of coalbed methane are analyzed.The main controlling factors of coalbed methane accumulation are summarized.In this study,the depth of coal bed,gas content,coal thickness,ash content,gas saturation.Three types of favorable areas of coalbed methane are classified.The volume method was used to evaluate the coalbed methane resources in the favorable areas.The total area of the three favorable areas is 698.59km~2,the total amount of in situ resources is 1786.31×10~8m~3.The total area of I class is 181.64km~2,the amount of in situ resources is 500.44×10~8m~3.The total area of II class is 320.01km~2,the amount of in situ resources is 912.02×10~8m~3.The total area of III class is 196.94km~2,the amount of in situ resources is 366.85×10~8m~3.Based on the study of coalbed gas reservoir geology and the evaluation of the resources,the study provides guidance for further exploration and development.
