Coalbed methane is a kind of unconventional natural gas resource with self-generation and self-storage,and its storage mode is mainly adsorption state.Coalbed methane is clean,safe and efficient,which can be used as a high-quality energy to relieve the pressure of conventional oil and gas resources,and has a very broad application prospect.MCM coal seam group is one of the main coal reservoirs in Bowen basin,Australia.It has large reserves and wide distribution range of coalbed methane.At the same time,it has the characteristics of complex reservoir structure?strong heterogeneity?poor lateral continuity?small thickness and large buried depth span,which makes the development of Coalbed methane more difficult.In order to accurately describe the structural characteristics and the spatial distribution of various attributes of MCM coal seam group,the reservoir characterization and the main controlling factors of favorable areas of MCM coal seam group in Bowen basin,Australia were carried out.On the basis of clarifying the characteristics of coal reservoir and its spatial distribution characteristics,the main factors affecting CBM productivity were analyzed to determine the distribution location of favorable areas,which provides a theoretical basis for the rational development and utilization of coalbed methane in this area.Combined with previous research results,based on logging,core and seismic data,firstly,the logging and core data are processed to determine the coal seam identification standard,interpret the strata lithofacies and carry out the division and correlation of coal bearing strata,and then carry out the coal seam division and correlation work to clarify the spatial distribution characteristics of coal seams and analyze the distribution law of different coal seam thickness;Secondly,the seismic synthetic record is made to realize the well seismic joint horizon calibration,and the seismic coherence volume slice is extracted to identify the faults in the study area,the equal depth structural map is drawn to complete the structural interpretation of the study area;Finally,combined with the seismic and logging interpretation results,the structural model of the study area is established,the correlation analysis results of reservoir parameters are used to establish the reservoir parameter models of gas content,density,ash content,permeability,etc.in the study area,the distribution characteristics of various physical parameters of the coal reservoir in the whole area are clear,the main controlling factors of the favorable area are determined according to the influence degree of different parameters on the coalbed methane production,and the favorable area is predicted and verified.The research results of this paper have important guiding significance for realizing the efficient development of CBM in MCM group in the study area.
