The dammed lake formed under natural conditions is relatively easy to rupture and poses a serious threat to the life and property safety of the downstream people. In this paper, the stability and shape of the plug body are studied and analyzed, and the distribution of the particles is studied and analyzed, which provides the basis for the decision-making of relief and reinforcement of the plug body. The forming nature of the plug body is the process of the accumulation of sliding particles.Based on the current research status and taking into account factors such as the movement path, the friction force change and applicability, this paper uses the discrete element method to study the packing properties of the plug body. This paper first introduces the theoretical content of the discrete element method, and then experimentally simulates five groups of sand piles with different densities to calibrate the particle contact parameters and establish a model to form stacks for different slope heights, slope angles and different particle models. The process of the body was simulated, and the results of the stacked results and the position of the particles formed under different conditions were analyzed, and the uniformity of the stability of the plug was analyzed. In order to understand the situation of the plug pile in the bottom of the pile, this paper uses the EDEM-FLUENT coupling model to conduct a basic investigation of the movement of the piled particles under the action of water flow, and draws the following conclusions:(1)Stacking process. At the same slope height, the larger the slope angle, the smaller the resistance of the particles, the greater the maximum speed of the particles falling, and the less time for the particles to settle stably.(2)Accumulation form. When the slope angle is the same, the slope of the surface of the deposit increases with the increase of the slope height;when the slope height is the same, the surface morphology of the deposit changes from curve to straight line with the increase of the slope angle.(3)Stacking results.Large and medium-sized particles are distributed on the surface of the pile and near the bank, and the particle gliding speed is larger, and the accumulation phenomenon is more obvious.(4)Accumulation of body uniformity. The slope angle is constant, and the uniformity of the deposit decreases with the increase of the slope height; the slope height is the same, and the uniformity of the pile increases with the increase of the slope angle.(5)The velocity of the large particles, medium particles, and small particles decreases in turn as the accumulated particles of the plug body are affected by the water flow, and the difference in particle velocity increases as the flow time increases.(6)The accumulation of particles in the plug body increases with the increase of the water movement time, and the shape of the accumulation body changes from concentrated to flat and the height of the shape gradually decreases.
