Since China implemented the Reform and Opening-up policy in 1978,the rapid development of economy has promoted the improvement of people's living standards continuously. With the improvement of people's material conditions, people have higher demands for living quality. The position of the tertiary industry in the national economy has promoted. As an important part of the tertiary industry, tourism industry has also facing the important strategic development opportunities.Developing tourism industry based on local conditions has multiple advantages. It can effectively integrate regional resources, transform resource advantages into economic advantages, raise incomes to local residents, and improve the regional economic development situations. However, with the unbalanced development of regional economy, the drawbacks of unbalanced development among regions have gradually emerged, which is prominently reflected as the growing gap between urban and rural, and intensifying social contradictions, which have negative impacts on the construction of harmonious socialist society. The characters of tourism industry determine that there is inseparable relationships between the development of tourism industry and urban-rural income gap,the paper will launch research on the relationships. This paper combines qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis to explore the impact of tourism industry on urban-rural income gap.In theory, this paper combs the relevant literature involving tourism industry,urban-rural income gap and, etal.Through literature combing to understand and analyze the shortcomings of existing academic research results,in order to explore the entry point of the study.Based on “Development Pole” theory,Industrial Structure theory and Sustainable Development theory, the mechanism of tourism industry on urban-rural income gap is analyzed.Because the development of tourism industry has both positive and negative impact on urban-rural income gap,the influence of tourism industry on urban-rural income gap is uncertain. In the empirical aspect, this paper analyses the development status of tourism industry and urban-rural income gap. From the five aspects of tourism industry development, the paper constructs an index system to measure the level of tourism industry development, calculates the comprehensive score of tourism industry development of 31 provinces(cities and districts)in China from 1997 to 2016 through the method of entropy,in order to measure the level of tourism industry development of 31 provinces(cities and districts)in China from 1997 to 2016.Finally,the paper empirically analyses the impact of tourism industry on urban-rural income gap in 31 provinces(cities and districts)of China by constructing the spatial lag model under the fixed spatial effect. The results show that:(1)Tourism industry has an uncertain impact on urban-rural income gap through five aspects: Industrial correlation effect,Employment absorption effect,Infrastructure improvement effect,Information transmission effect and Ecological protection effect.(2)In recent years, tourism industry has developed rapidly in China, but it is vulnerable, the Domestic and International markets development are uneven, and urban-rural income gap is characterized by stages and regions.(3)From the national perspective, the development of tourism industry in China will significantly narrow turban-rural income gap,and urban-rural income gap will narrow by about 0.055% for every 1% increase in the level of tourism industry development; However, the development of tourism industry in the eastern region has a greater impact on narrowing urban-rural income gap.According to the above results, the following policy recommendations are put forward: Firstly, coordinate Urban-Rural Integration Development in tourism industry aspect;Secondly, reinforce policy support and capital investment;Thirdly, apply regional differentiation development strategy into practice;Fourthly, strengthen skills training and qualified people training.
