In this paper,Caojiawolong red weathering crust in Zhuanghe is selected as the research object. The roundness and surface morphology of quartz sand in red weathering crust were observed by SEM,and the surface morphology of quartz particles with the relation in it was analyzed.Combined with the particle size parameters of weathering crust and the chemical corrosion variables, the development environment of sediments was interpreted, and the cold, warm, dry and wet changes of environmental climate were reduced. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The surface morphology of quartz particles in the laterite of weathering crust and the underlying claybank soil in Caojiawolong section has a high similarity, both of which have poor roundness and are mainly sub angular. On the whole, the chemical transformation degree of quartz sand in laterite is higher than that in claybank soil. The surface of both quartz sand is dominated by low protuberance, and the cohesive particles are common.(2)The proportion of clay in Caojiawolong weathering crust is 1.27%-12.31%,the average content is 3.18%,the range of powder viscosity ratio is 9.28-24.29,and the average powder viscosity ratio is 15.46.From the top to the bottom of the profile, the value of the powder viscosity ratio changes frequently, which indicates that the climate fluctuates during the development of the red weathering crust. The median particle size of Caojiawolong weathering crust is 2.84 ?-5.8 ?.The average grain size of Caojiawolong weathering crust is between 3.17-5.83 ?.The frequency curve of weathering crust is multi peak and asymmetric, the skewness shows positive skewness, the mode peak is coarse grain peak, which has the characteristics of river sediment.Four to seven peaks have been observed, indicating the strong heterogeneity of the parent rock. The scatter diagram of particle size parameter shows that the laterite of weathering crust and the underlying claybank soil are originated from the in-situ weathering of underlying bedrock.(3)The development degree of four sections in Liaodong Peninsula is: red weathering crust of Shicao section, red weathering crust of Chengshantou section, red weathering crust of Qidingshan section and red weathering crust of Caojiawolong section.Generally speaking, the weathering degree of the weathering crust in Liaodong Peninsula increases gradually from west to East, and then extends eastward to Zhuanghe and decreases again.(4)The CIA value of the red weathering crust in Caojiawolong section is 82.33-92.53,with an average value of 88.44.It is in the state of high chemical weathering, and the forming environment is characterized by high temperature and humidity. In general, the value of CIA fluctuates with the change of depth, which indicates that the weathering intensity of weathering crust changes, and then proves the climate fluctuation of its environment.According to the change trend of CIA value,Caojiawolong weathering crust is divided into five stages. The changes were rise-Fall-rise-Fall-rise,respectively.The chemical genetic characteristics of quartz sand surface development in weathering crust also show a change trend related to CIA.The changes of both indicate the environmental changes during the formation of weathering crust in Caojiawolong,it is damp heat-warm-damp-heat warmdamp heat.
