Weathering crust is an interaction interface between the lithosphere, the atmosphere, thehydrosphere and biosphere, and thus keeps abundant information concerning the evolution ofthe Earth.s mult-i spheres.Weathering crusts derived from different sedimentary backgroundspossess different grain size distribution characteristics and different geochemistry indices.Grain-size is one of the most important feature of sediments in the paleo-environmentanalysis and treconstruction, because of it is the material for the identification of sedimentsources, transport media and power, sedimentary environments and their changes are ofmonitor changes. Geochemistry indices can accurately quantify the intensity and speed ofweathering, chemical elements can be an accurate indication of the weathering crust sedimentlsources, geochemical characteristics are used to monitor environment changes.According to the grain size analysis and geochemistry indices to carry out a syntheticalstudy of weathering crust, which is in favor of a profound understanding of couplingrelationship between weathering crust, climate and the protolith rocks, learn more about thepaleo-environment and paleoclimate from Liaodong Peninsula. This paper selects the red weathering crust at Liaodong Peninsula coast as research area, uses the grain size analysis method to discuss the grain size distribution characteristic of thered weathering crust. Based on the grain size analysis, merging with geochemistry.Author discusses the provenance and profile development of the red weathering crusts inLiaodong Peninsula, and obtains several significant innovations as follows:1.From the profile in terms of grain-size characteristics of silt(4~63μm)content in thehighest, with an average70percent, for public Counting Unit; sand(>63μm) content followedfor the second mode grain group; clay(<4μm) content is extremely low, indicates a low degreeof weathering. Eolian basic grains group with higher levels of10~50μm, with an average of40percent, suggesting the soil-forming parent materials have a certain style into a feature.2. From the profile in terms of geochemistry indices, the value of CIA is high, thecharacteristics of the red weathering crust is indicating a damp-heat climate in subtropicalzone, the condition of weathering intensity is moderate. Major and trace elements indicatethat the phenomenon of eluviation widely occurs in weathering profiles owing to plentifulwater and heat condition. 3.A comprehensive look on the research area, the grain-size composition, distributioncurves, parameters and CIA and other indicators, and with the Huaxi and Pingba profilescontrast, indicating different weathering circumstances have the effect on weatheringefflorescence in North and South China.
