Calcite is the common gangue during the scheelite flotation,as the scheelite resources endowment is becoming worse,scheelite disseminated extent is more and more thin,traditional gravity separation methods cannot efficiently separate scheelite and calcite,by way of flotation separation in order to achieve the purpose of efficient recovery of scheelite,avoid the waste of resources.For scheelite flotation,it is critical to choose an effective depressant with selective depression effect.Flotation test has been conducted to find macromolecular organic with selective depression effect,the effect of macromolecular organic depressants on flotation separation of scheelite and calcite has been studied.The investigation of the mechanism of macromolecule organic depressants in scheelite and calcite surface adsorption were obtained via total carbon(TOC)adsorption test,infrared spectrum,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy detection,in order to achieve the effective separation of scheelite and calcite while estimate a theoretical foundation.The main research results obtained as follows:Scheelite and calcite have extremely similar properties of surface chemical,which results a great flotation recovery for both scheelite and calcite in the individual mineral flotation for p H 6-11 and sodium oleate as the collector,and the separation of scheelite and calcite could not be achieved by adjusting p H,thus the effective depressants for calcite is needed.Carboxylated chitosan,chitosan,xanthan gum,tragacanth gum,calcium lignosulfonate and sodium alginate have better selective depression effect for calcite,which can achieve the flotation separation of the scheelite and calcite.Carboxymethyl starch sodium,methyl cellulose and pectin has depression effect for calcite,but also depresses the scheelite,and the selectivity is poor,in which the depression effect of carboxymethyl starch sodium for scheelite is better than that of calcite.The depression effect of locust bean gum and hydroxyethyl cellulose on calcite was not significant.Both the mixture minerals test and the actual ore test of scheelite proved that carboxylated chitosan and sodium alginate can be used as depressant in the flotation process of scheelite.Adsorption test results show that the adsorption of macromolecule organic depressants(carboxylation chitosan,chitosan,calcium lignosulfonate,tragacanth gum,sodium alginate)can occur at scheelite and calcite surface,and the adsorption on the surface of the calcite is stronger than that of scheelite.According to the infrared spectrum and XPS analysis,the adsorption of carboxylated chitosan,calcium lignosulfonate and sodium alginate on the surface of calcite are chemical adsorption.Calcite is depressed via the chelation of calcite and carboxylated chitosan.The mechanism of adsorption of calcium lignosulphonate and sodium alginate are similar,by the absorption between calcium ions and the molecules which is originate from the hydrolysis of calcium lignosulfonate and sodium alginate in the water,this procedure hinder the adsorption of oleic acid molecular,eventually to achieve the effect of depression of calcite.
