The Miao embroidery of southern Sichuan has its own artistic style and charac teristics in the Chinese Miao costumes.The Miao embroidery in Junlian county,yibin city,is i ncluded in the second batch of intangible cultural heritage items,which are numbered VII--14 Miao embroidery.The unique charm of the Miao embroidery not only show up as the superb skills and the collocation of extraordinary imagination of embroidery,but also the naive beaut y of national history and culture,and the beauty of creativity in figurative and abstract modeli ng.The main research object of this paper is the classic pattern of Miao embroidery in souther n Sichuan.On the basis of summary and induction to find the classic common embroidery patt erns.After hyperbole transform its shape,rearrange the combination according to the modelin g feature,and apply it to the new fabric.In accordance with the modern aesthetic law,the desi gn of a series of costumes that can be received and loved by modern people.This modern dres s not only joined the traditional Miao embroidery,also commonly used classic color of Miao embroidery blending in clothing after adjustment.Based on the modern aesthetic concept of m en’s fashion design,to develop a modern fashion originated from traditional rather than traditi onal ones.Firstly,the thesis gives a brief overview of the geographical position,the historical development and the present situation of the Miao embroidery of southern Sichuan.Followed by an analysis of the features and sources of the Miao embroidery pattern,the color utilization and composition.Through these to have a deeply understanding of the artistic characteristics of Miao embroidery.This paper summarizes the most common embroidery patterns and color of the Miao embroidery.The author extracts the pattern from the embroidery,and applies it to her design,which conforms to the styling features of the whole dress.After the process of extraction of typical color and adjusting the purity of color,it is more close to the modern color system.With the development of thetimes,ethnic minorities are gradually chinesization.Ethnic costumes and traditional techniques of ethnic minorities are gradually disappearing.The inheritance and development of ethnic costumes and embroidery in southern Sichuan has also been greatly affected and threatened.Then this paper analyzes the color,shape and form of the embroidery pattern of the Miao costumes.And the meaning,method and selection of the fabric are used in the modern men’s wear.It also discusses the feasibility of the combination of embroidery pattern and modern fashion.Finally,through practice and theory,a new oasis is created for the inheritance and development of Miao embroidery in Southern Sichuan.The attempt to combine tradition and fashion will provide some useful experience for future researchers.
