Flotation has always been a means of efficient enrichment and separation of sulfide ores.Grinding is an important link before flotation, and the quality of grinding products directly affects the indexes of subsequent flotation operations. In view of the above problems, this paper takes galena and pyrite as the research object, selects low carbon steel ball and ceramic ball as grinding medium, systematically studies the influence of grinding medium on the flotation behavior of galena and pyrite, and carries out the comparison test of single mineral flotation and actual ore flotation under different grinding medium. The mechanism was elucidated by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electrochemical testing. The electrochemical properties of galena, pyrite and carbon steel balls in potassium nitrate electrolyte solution were studied based on electrochemical measurement technique. The results show that the electrostatic potential of galena, pyrite and steel ball in potassium nitrate electrolyte solution is in the order of pyrite>galena>steel ball, and the self-corrosion rate is in the order of steel ball>pyrite>galena. In the steel ball-galena,steel ball-pyrite and galena-pyrite electrocorrosive coupling system, steel ball and galena are used as anodes respectively, and the surface corrosion rate is accelerated. The results of single mineral flotation test show that under the same reagent system and similar grinding fineness, the flotation indexes of galena and pyrite with ceramic grinding medium are higher than those of steel ball grinding medium. When galena is grinding, adding pyrite is not conducive to galena flotation. When grinding pyrite, adding a small amount of galena is beneficial to the flotation of pyrite, while excessive amount will make the flotation of pyrite worse.Studies on the influence of grinding media on the chemical properties and surface chemical properties of galena and pyrite pulp show that:Compared with the ceramic grinding system, the steel ball grinding system also has the local battery effect of the steel ball and the Galvani corrosion effect between the steel ball and mineral particles. The cathode consumes a lot of oxygen and generates OH-,resulting in the decrease of pulp potential and dissolved oxygen content, and the increase of pulp pH.The results of scanning electron microscopy show that compared with ceramic grinding, the minerals in steel ball grinding are strongly corroded by mechanochemistry and Galvani corrosion, and the mineral surface has obvious corrosion bands and irregular flocs adsorption, and the surface roughness is higher.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy detection shows that metal-deficient galena surface and sulfur-rich pyrite surface are formed in both of the two grinding systems, while the iron content on the surface of grinding products increases due to the production of more hydrophilic FeOOH and ferric hydroxide flocs in the steel ball grinding system. This paper, taking a high sulphur lead-zinc mine in yunnan province as the research object, adopt the different grinding media grinding effect on flotation behavior of galena and pyrite, the results show that compared with the steel ball grinding medium and then, using ceramic ball grinding after roughing of lead, sulfur and lead in rough concentrate from sulfur recovery rate are rising, and the subsequent lead sulphur separation effect is better also. This paper has 46 figures,31 charts and 97 references.
