With the increasing severity of the global warming crisis caused by a large number of greenhouse gas emissions, the climate issue has attracted extensive attention from scholars, governments and even the whole society all over the world.Since 2000,China’s rapid urbanization has become an important driving force for sustained economic growth. On the one hand, the development of urbanization is conducive to the rational allocation of urban industrial resources, improve the utilization rate of resources and reduce carbon emissions. On the other hand, the acceleration of urbanization will also consume more resources and fossil energy, resulting in increased emissions. To deal with the relationship between urban construction and environmental protection,it is necessary to make clear the interaction between urbanization and carbon emission. The Yangtze river economic belt is a major carbon emission area in China and a leading demonstration area for the construction of new urbanization. The analysis of the impact mechanism of urbanization on carbon emissions is of great practical significance for promoting the ecological civilization construction of the Yangtze river economic belt.Based on the panel data of 11 provinces and cities in the Yangtze river economic belt from 2004 to 2016,this paper first constructed a static panel model to analyze the impact mechanism of urbanization on carbon emissions in the Yangtze river economic belt, and then introduced spatial factors to build a spatial panel model to study the spatial spillover effect of urbanization in the Yangtze river economic belt and its impact on carbon emissions.Main research contents: first, descriptive analysis on the status quo of urbanization and carbon emission in the Yangtze river economic belt based on the whole and provincial level;Secondly,a provincial static panel model is established to empirically study the relationship between urbanization and carbon emissions in the Yangtze river economic belt.Thirdly, the spatial factors of urbanization and carbon emissions are introduced into the panel model, and the spatial panel model is constructed to discuss the spatial spillover effect of urbanization and carbon emissions in the Yangtze river economic belt, and to verify the inverted u-shaped curve relationship between urbanization and carbon emissions.Fourth, according to the research conclusions, based on the actual conditions of the development of the Yangtze river economic belt, the construction of ecological civilization of the Yangtze river economic belt Suggestions. The results show that there is a significant spatial correlation between carbon emission and urbanization in the Yangtze river economic belt. There is a linear relationship between the total population, per capita GDP and carbon emissions. There is an inverted u-shaped relationship between the urbanization rate and carbon emissions. When the urbanization level is low,the increase of the urbanization rate will increase the carbon emissions. When the urbanization level is high, the increase of the urbanization rate will inhibit the increase of carbon emissions.Carbon emissions is a clear positive spillover effect, the spillover effect comes from the surrounding areas of carbon, carbon emissions increase when the neighborhood level or the related influence factors, the region carbon emissions will also increase, when the region carbon emissions increase, will be in the neighborhood of carbon emission levels produce "siphon effect";There is a significant spatial spillover effect on carbon emissions, that is,the urbanization level of a region will affect the carbon emissions of adjacent regions.
