Aesthetic Characteristics Of The Mother Of Pearl Lacquerware And Practice Of Jewelry Design

The mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer is a general term for a complete set of technical systems that use the shell of a shell or snail to decorate the surface of the object.It is one of the most representative cultural carriers in the development of Chinese history and culture.It not only shines in the history of Chinese arts and crafts,but also has a profound influence on the history of world arts and crafts.This paper starts with the historical time,and introduces the aesthetic characteristics and elements of the mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer by means of literature reading method,field research method,comparative analysis method and practical exploration method.And apply it to jewelry design,aiming to promote the development of China’s excellent traditional culture from the perspective of jewelry design.This paper expounds the aesthetic characteristics,historical development and craft techniques of the mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer in various periods,and analyzes the artifacts.The decoration of the early mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer was an expression of totem worship;after the Tang Dynasty,due to the openness of thoughts,the decorative features were close to the people’s life,and the mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer had a delicate style;Different from the Dang dynasty,the Song dynasty preferred elegant and minimalist style.From the Song Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty,the decoration was characterized by the expression of “painting”;by the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the pattern of the mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer artifacts was more gorgeous and the overall development had made great progress.Throughout the overall development,the mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer have undergone a series of advanced processes from the early models of imitation bronzes to the rich living utensils of the Song and Yuan Dynasties to the large furniture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.This paper also analyzes the modern jewelry works,and gives an example of the use of mother-of-pearl inlay technology in modern jewelry,such as the influence of production techniques on jewelry patterns,and the use of decorative patterns in modern jewelry.Based on the above research,the author is inspired by the aesthetic characteristics of the mother-of-pearl inlay lacquer,applying the decorative patterns,the color contrast technique,the mosaic technique,and the artistic style of the “Chense” to the jewelry design,from the bracelet,the brooch,and the pocket watch,pendants,jewelry boxes have begun the work of jewelry design and production practice.Based on that,7 works were designed.Finally,the " Flower and bird brooch "," Square and round pendant " and "Jin" earrings were used as personal jewelry design practice works,completing the " adapting ancient forms for present-day use " work.
