Among the Western Marxist schools, ecological Marxism is one of the most influential thoughts. It originated from the globalization process and the emergence and agitation of the ecological crisis in the 1960 s,and has continued to develop since then. The answer to the three aspects of the theoretical system’s environmental problems facing the current era,the shortcomings of the capitalist system, and the relationship with Marxist ecological thoughts reflects a distinct era.John Bellamy Foster is a representative figure in the field of ecological Marxism. He deeply analyzes the essence of capitalism as the pursuit of interests, which leads to irreconcilable between capitalist system and ecological system construction. The opposite relationship, and the essence of the green industrial revolution proposed by capitalism to get out of the ecological dilemma is also hypocritical, and it is difficult to solve the ecological crisis. The greatest characteristic of Foster’s ecological Marxism lies in the ecological dilemma attributed to the crisis of philosophical foundation, exploring the possibility of reinterpreting Marxist philosophical theory on the relationship between man and nature. He believes that the world needs to rethink people and The essential relationship of nature has opened an important exploration path for rationally getting rid of the ecological predicament. While Foster’s ecological Marxist thought provides a solution to the contemporary ecological environment,it is also undeniable that its theory is also flawed and needs to be demonstrated and supplemented. The composition of this paper is the following six parts:The first chapter introduces the significance of the topic of Foster’s ecological Marxism, and illustrates the important enlightening significance of Foster’s ecological Marxist theory for the study of Western Marxism and the study of socialist ecological construction with contemporary Chinese characteristics. At the same time,it sorts out the research status of Foster’s ecological Marxist theory at home and abroad, and sorts out the innovations and deficiencies in the process of writing the thesis. The second chapter focuses on the background of the formation of Foster’s ecological Marxism.Foster’s ecological Marxist theory was formed in the context of the global ecological crisis caused by the capitalist mode of production and the failure of various environmental protection movements on ecological issues within the bourgeoisie. Its ideological theory reflects the deterioration of the ecological environment. The statement of the situation, which infiltrates the accusation of the essence of capitalist exploitation, reflects Foster’s profound reflection on the ecological environment under the influence of the systemChapter 3 mainly explains the source of Foster’s ecological Marxism. His thoughts mainly come from two directions: the ecological theory of Marxism and the western ecological Marxist trend of thought.Foster combines his research on Marxist theory with Western ecological Marxist theory, making his theory more speculativeChapter 4 mainly explains the theoretical claims of Foster’s ecological Marxism. Its ideological and theoretical claims consist of two parts. One is to reveal the anti-ecological nature of capitalism,to reveal the great destructive power of capitalist production methods to the natural environment from the roots, and to discuss the specific content of the capitalist ecological improvement path in the content. And the failure of the end, thus combing out the ecological crisis solution that meets the requirements of the times.Second,Foster’s ecological Marxism has enriched and developed Marxist ecological thoughts.Although many scholars believe that the works of Marxist theory do not reflect the ecological point of view, but Foss In his unique perspective,he explores the ecological meaning of the "metabolic fracture" theory in the Marxist theoretical system and reconstructs it.At the same time,Foster pointed out that the Marxist theoretical system proposes to reveal the dilemma between man and nature. The topic of the relationship between man and nature beneficially counters the social reality of the opposition between man and nature under the capitalist system, and has very rich theoretical connotation and practical value.Chapter 5 focuses on the inadequacies of Foster’s ecological Marxism and explores the contemporary value of Foster’s ecological Marxism.Foster’s ecological Marxist theory has the flaw of the disconnection between theory and practice. On the whole, its theoretical thought lacks the overall study of Marxist theory and lacks specific measures for ecological revolution.Foster’s ecological Marxist theoretical system expands the research direction of the Marxist theoretical system, and at the same time based on the relationship between man and nature to solve ecological problems,it can be the ecological environment and natural resources in the process of China’s socialist modernization. The protection provides a useful reference for the foothold and the rational path to better play the ecological function. The conclusion of Part 6 summarizes the content of Foster’s ecological Marxist theory and further explains the significance of its theory to the construction of ecological civilization in China.
