| Jewelry is among those human creative activities that with the longest history.The Arts and Crafts Movement happened in England and America as well as manual revival movements in 19 th Century arose radical revolution in jewelry design,leading the openness to craftsmanship,materials and wearing manners in jewelry.Since 1960 s,the revolutionary upheavals in aesthetics and ideology had influenced design concepts,definitions and practices of jewelry.A large number of jewelry artists began to appear in Europe and America,who explored the functions of jewelry and made breakthrough through their works.Contemporary jewelry inherits the century-old tradition of jewelry workshop.It evolves rapidly,integrates techniques,design and art,but lacks enough influence and awareness.In this age of globalization,only a few contemporary jewelry designers are active and international.Contemporary jewelry has been in a marginal position in jewelry design,no unified history,no enough critics and no systematic theories.Although it follows the same market system as contemporary art,many people still do not accept it.Jewelry artists could win a proper reputation and the public could better understand contemporary jewelry if historical data and professional comment system were set up.Fabrizio Tridenti has created jewelry for 36 years,whose personal experience,education background,style of works and career path are conformed to a typical contemporary jewelry artist.He continually explores the expression plastic of jewelry,uses various materials,designs innovative structures and seeks out new possibilities of forms through the process of combining materials,techniques and concepts.Through fully investigating in Fabrizio’s works,I explore the feasibilities of combining jewelry with contemporary sculptures and ready-made art.The paper is established on modern art and design history and contemporary art criticism.It can be a reference to the construction of contemporary jewelry theories. |
