Plastic curved dip tube is an important component of water heater,which is used to fill water,drain water and filter impurities,the failure of plastic curved dip tube mold leads to an increase in production costs.In order to improve the service life of the injection mold and ensure the molding quality of the plastic products,this paper takes the plastic curved dip tube mold as a research object,carries out the service analysis of the mold core.Several kinds of plastic mold steel were selected to carry on the test of service performance.And on this basis,material selection of the plastic injection mold and the properties study of plastic mold steel were studied.The main research contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:According to the three-dimensional model of the plastic curved dip tube,the simulation model of injection molding was established in Moldflow software and the flowing simulation analysis was carried out.The temperature and pressure curves of the core surface during the injection molding process were obtained.Combined with the results of flowing simulation analysis,the finite element analysis of the mold was carried out by ANSYS software to obtain the analysis results of the surface temperature field and deformation analysis results.The analysis results show that the possible deformation of the core will influence the molding quality of plastic curved dip tube.The service conditions,production information and possible causes of the plastic curved dip tube mold core failure were investigated.The causes of core failure were discussed and improvement measures were proposed.The results of the failure analysis show that there are cutter marks on the core surface,the core working at injection molding environment,there is stress concentration at the cutter marks under the joint action of mechanical stress,pressure and thermal stress,furthermore,for the poor lubrication of the core,the hard particles in the plastic scratching,heating and softening of the mold cause cracking,deformation and surface wear failure.Plastic mold steel was selected and subjected to tensile test,friction and wear test and thermal fatigue test respectively.According to test results,the deformation resistance,wear resistance and thermal fatigue properties were analyzed.Material selection and performance study of plastic mold steel were studied in this paper.It can be concluded that the performance parameters which have a great influence on the performance of plastic mold material are elastic modulus,yield strength and hardness,that is,plastic mold steel with higher strength and stiffness and higher wear resistance can be selected as plastic mold material.The research results can provide the basis for the material selection of plastic mold steel.In this paper,the selection of plastic mold steel and its properties were studied by means of computer simulation and test methods.The results obtained are of great value in engineering application.
