Since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the beautiful ecological component has become more and more important, and improving environmental quality has become one of the main objectives of economic and social development. As a major environmental pollution, coal power companies will cause a large amount of soot and sewage in the process of operation, which has a great negative impact on the environment. In the context of clean and low-carbon development, environmental risks faced by coal-fired power companies are not only natural risks, but also economic risks, policy risks and other transformation risks.Coal power companies need to establish a scientific environmental risk assessment model, and explore management strategies to provide a reference for China’s coal power industry to cope with environmental risks. In the context of full investigation, this paper first reviews the relevant theories of risk assessment, and introduces the general steps and processes of risk management and comprehensive evaluation. Then it analyzes the environmental risks of coal power enterprises, constructs an environmental risk index system, and further constructs a comprehensive evaluation model for environmental risks of coal power enterprises.Environmental risks can be divided into physical risks and transition risks.Physical risks include natural disasters such as floods and droughts;and transition risks include economic risks, related policy risks, and industry risks. Finally, taking typical provinces as an example, the risk of coal power enterprises and the key risk factors that may be faced in the future development are clarified.and practical policy recommendations and response strategies are put forward. In this paper, the combination of weight method and the risk evaluation model based on matter-element extension TOPSIS method are used to analyze and evaluate the environmental risk factors of coal-fired power enterprises. Finally, the key risk factors that coal power enterprises may face in the future are clearly defined, and further policy recommendations for the development of coal power enterprises are proposed. It not only enriches the theoretical system of risk management of coal-fired power enterprises, but also helps enterprises to comprehensively identify environmental risks, make timely and scientific response strategies, and ensure the sound development of coal power plants.
