In recent years,with the introduction of environmental protection policy documents,the government’s support for the environmental protection industry has gradually increased,and China’s environmental protection industry has entered the fast lane of development.However,at present,there are relatively few studies on the identification of the development stage and pattern of China’s environmental protection industry,the judgment potential of various sub-sectors and the status quo,and the lack of relevant research on the level of development of environmental protection companies,which cannot provide effective guidance for the government to carry out industrial planning and policy formulation.At the same time,it also affects the rational development of corporate development strategies and restricts the pace of development of China’s environmental protection industry.In view of the above problems,this study aims to progressively step up from the macro level to the micro level through the judgment of the overall stage of China’s environmental protection industry,the study of the distribution of industry patterns,the judgment of the development potential of sub-industries,and the analysis and evaluation of the level of competitiveness of enterprises.The status quo and characteristics of China’s environmental protection industry development are analyzed from the three dimensions of industry,industry,and enterprise.Based on the status quo,the future trends are inferred,and they provide reference for strategic decision-making and guidance policy formulation at all levels of the country,local governments,and enterprises.First,at the macro level,combined with the theory of industrial development cycle,innovatively proposed an extended development model of the environmental protection industry and constructed a judgment index system,through the relatively mature national industrial data model and indicator system of the two countries of the United States and Japan.Validate and use this model to analyze and judge China’s industrial data: China’s environmental protection industry is in a growing period,and due to the simultaneous emergence of environmental issues and joint governance,the environmental protection industry will maintain sustained growth for a long time,until the environmental quality is thoroughly improved.On this basis,we will further sort out the development pattern of China’s environmental protection industry at the current stage of development.Analyze the distribution characteristics of China’s environmental protection enterprises and conclude that the pyramid structure of the environmental protection industry has been developed.The development trend of the pyramid structure in the future is that the middle and top enterprises continue to expand the industrial chain through outreach and acquisitions.The survival of the fittest and bottom-up companies will continue to be optimized and industry concentration will be further improved.Secondly,at the meso level,the sub-industry development potential analysis framework and evaluation index system are constructed based on the “porter 5+1 force” model,from industry supply and demand conditions,competitive landscape,bargaining power,market space,industry barriers,and major policy drivers.,industry hotspots and development stages of the eight dimensions,the "13th Five-Year" 14 key sub-sectors related to the development of the status of analysis and combing,and the use of expert scoring method for the evaluation of environmental protection sub-sectors.Finally,at the micro level,combined with the development characteristics of the environmental protection industry,innovative environmental protection features are added to the traditional enterprise competitiveness evaluation system,and a complete evaluation index system is established through the AHP method to set index weights,with 54 companies.The environmental protection listed companies,for example,conducted empirical analysis and effectively verified the rationality of the index system.Combining the results of the analysis of the competitiveness of enterprises within each sector,the research on the development status of China’s environmental sub-sectors was further carried out,and the development characteristics and status quo of the environmental protection industry and its sub-sectors were further analyzed.
