The Belt and Road Initiative(B&R),namely,the Silk Road Economic Belt and the21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.B&R adheres to the principles of consultation,contribution,and shared benefits,conforms to the trend of world multi-polarization and economic globalization,promotes the economic factors flow orderly and freely,allocate the resources efficiently and integrate the markets deeply,which provides a new model for sustainable development.The Fifth Plenary Session of the 18 th Communist Party of China(CPC)Central Committee put forward the development concept of innovative,coordinated,green,open,and shared.Green development focuses on solving the problem of harmony between humans and nature.On the one hand,the rapid development of the Chinese economy has caused certain damage to the resources,the environment,and the ecosystem.On the other hand,the people’s demand for a better environment is growing stronger.Therefore,this article studies the level and differentiation of green economy development in Chinese B&R cities.The main research contents including:According to the theory of green development and regional non-equilibrium development,the theoretical analysis of green development and differentiation of cities along B&R in China can build the research framework of this paper.Based on the green development of cities,the exploding and cumulative effects of time dimensions and policies,the comparison of the level and marginal effects of different cities,and regional location differences and comparison of non-node cities can put forward research hypotheses.Using the Differences-in-Differences method to test the research hypotheses,taking 272 ??cities in China during 2009-2017 as the research object,the18 provincial capital cities,10 inland node cities,15 coastal node cities and a collectionof 43 cities in China and Europe’s domestic starting point group are regarded as the experimental group,and the remaining 129 cities are regarded as the control group for empirical testing.The results show that the implementation of B&R can promote the development of the urban green economy and has a continuous enhancement effect.At the same time,it promotes the growth of the green economy in non-provincial capital cities with relatively lower administrative levels than provincial capital cities.The driving force of the economy is greater than that of non-node cities.Based on the results of empirical tests,this article proposes four countermeasures:(1)Optimizing the development environment of urban green economy;(2)Strengthening the soft power of green economic development in cities;(3)Reducing the gap of urban green economic development;(4)Planning scientific and rational urban ecological space.
