In recent years,self-cleaning coatings have attracted extensive research and attention due to their excellent anti-fouling,anti-fog,anti-icing,corrosion resistance,antiadhesion,and drag reduction properties,as well as their wide applications in our daily life,industry,agriculture,military,and many other fields.In this thesis,we prepared polymer materials with ultra-low surface energy by the free radical polymerization and carried out the following two aspects of work on the self-healing slippery self-cleaning coatings with excellent water-and oil-repellency:1.A homopolymer p-PFDA-C with low surface energy was synthesized by free radical polymerization of the monomer of 2-(perfluorooctyl)ethyl methacrylate(PFDA).Transparent slippery self-cleaning coatings with excellent water-and oilrepellency were prepared on glass substrates using the p-PFDA-C polymer via the solvent-free blade coating technology.The high flexibility of the perfluorocarbon chain of p-PFDA-C at the coating surface endows the surfaces with low surface energy and a “liquid-like” nature.Therefore,10 ?L liquids with a wide range of surface tensions and high viscosities(e.g.,n-hexane(18.2 mN/m,0.31 mPa*s),silicone oil(20.9 mN/m,0.31 mPa*s),glycerin(62.7 mN/m,704 mPa*s))can easily slide down on the coating surfaces at very low tilting angles(<25°)without leaving any residue.Due to the mobility and migration of the p-PFDA-C chain at high temperatures(100 ?),the pPFDA-C coating can repeatedly repair its physical damages and heal its degraded selfcleaning ability caused by oxidation,which can effectively extend the service life of the coatings and reduces the maintenance costs.2.A low-modulus copolymer p-(PFDA-BMA)was synthesized by free radical copolymerization of n-butyl methacrylate(BMA)and PFDA,and a high-modulus cross-linking copolymer p-(PFDA-MA)was synthesized by methyl acrylate.Based on the copolymers of p-(PFDA-BMA)and p-(PFDA-MA),transparent slippery selfcleaning coatings with excellent water-and oil-repellency were prepared on the flexible(e.g.,polyethylene terephthalate(PET))and rigid(e.g.,glass,metal)substrates,respectively.The above coatings show extremely high adhesion on the various rigid and flexible substrates and endow the substrates with low surface energy and “liquidlike” nature.10 ?L liquids with a wide range of surface tensions and high viscosities(e.g.,n-hexane,silicone oil,glycerin)can easily slide down on the coating surfaces at very low tilting angles(<26°)without leaving any residue.At the same time,due to the mobility of chains of p-p-(PFDA-BMA)and(PFDA-MA)at high temperatures,the coating can repeatedly heal its degraded self-cleaning ability caused by chemical and physical damages.Compared with the self-cleaning coating derived from the homopolymer of p-PFDA-C,the self-cleaning coatings prepared from the copolymers of p-(PFDA-MA)and p-(PFDA-BMA)are more promising for practical applications because of their applicability to different substrates and their superior adhesion with the substrates.
