| Objective : To observe the clinical effect of anti-epileptic ointment acupoint application in the treatment of intractable epilepsy(phlegm-blood stasis and qi-stagnation syndrome),and the levels of cytokine interleukin-1beta(IL-1beta),interleukin-2(IL-2)and interleukin-6(IL-6)in the serum before and after treatment. To evaluate the safety and efficacy of antiepileptic ointment and to explore its mechanism.Methods:80 patients with intractable epilepsy(phlegm-blood stasis and qi-stagnation syndrome)were randomly divided into anti-epileptic ointment group and AEDs group with40 cases in each group. The anti-epileptic group was treated with acupoint application of antiepileptic ointment and antiepileptic drugs, and the AEDs group was treated with acupoint application of starch and anti-epileptic drugs. The clinical efficacy and electroencephalogram(EEG)changes were measured at the fifth and tenth months after treatment with two groups. The serum levels of IL-1β,IL-2 and IL-6 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)before and after treatment for 10 months.Results:1.Analysis of clinical efficacy: two groups after 5 months treatment, the effective rate of treatment group was 54.29%.The effective rate of anti-epileptic ointment group was45.95%.There was no significant difference between the anti-epileptic ointment group and the AEDs group(P>0.05).After 10 months treatment, the effective rates of anti-epileptic ointment group and control group were 71.43% and 56.76%.The difference was statistical significant(P<0.05),the anti-epileptic ointment group can be considered to have higher efficacy than the AEDs group.2.Compared with the AEDs group, the symptom scores of the anti-epileptic ointment group and the control group were improved after treatment for 5 months and 10 months, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The therapeutic effect of the anti-epileptic ointment group was higher than that of the AEDs group.3.After treatment, the levels of IL-1β,IL-2 and IL-6 in anti-epileptic ointment group and AEDs group were improved.Statistically analysising this two groups(P<0.05),theanti-epileptic ointment group was better than the AEDs group.4.After treatment for 10 months, the anti-epileptic group and the AEDs group did not significantly improve in EEG.5.There were no significant abnormalities in blood routine, urine routine, liver function and renal function before and after treatment. No serious adverse events were found in 72 patients in the anti-epileptic group and in the AEDs group. Conclusion:With the help of Anti-epileptic ointment on Shenque acupoint application in the treatment of intractable epilepsy(phlegm-blood stasis and qi-stagnation syndrome),the symptoms of epilepsy were effectively improved.Anti-epileptic ointment may play a role in reducing the level of serum IL-1beta,IL-2 and IL-6 in patients with intractable epilepsy, and improve the EEG of patients with epilepsy not obviously.Anti-epileptic ointment in the treatment of intractable epilepsy(phlegm-blood stasis and qi-stagnation syndrome)is safe and effective, which with less side effects. |
