| Objectives: To understand the personality and mental health status of freshmen in one medical college,to explore the relationship between the personality characteristics and mental health of medical freshmen.We would like to provide strategy for psychological health education for relevant departments of the school.Methods:Taking the class as the unit,the whole cluster sampling method was adopted,and 4152 freshmen of a medical college were selected for the questionnaire survey.The questionnaire included Eysenck Personality Questionnaires adults(EPQ),Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90)and the questionnaire self-created affecting factors for personality types.Epidata3.1 software was used to establish a database,and SPSS21.0 statistical software was used to analyze data.The mainly statistical methods are descriptive analysis,T-test,Chi-square test,spearman correlation,multiple linear regression.Result:1 Personality characteristics of medical freshmen:(1)P dimension(psychoticism)the score <38.5 for 224 persons(5.4%),the score of 38.5~43.3 for 413 persons(9.9%),the score of 43.3~56.7 for 2679 persons(64.5%),the score of 56.7~61.5 for 306 persons(7.4%),the score>61.5 for 530 persons(12.8%);(2)N dimension(nervous)emotional stability for 621 persons(15.0%),tending to be stable for 492 persons(11.8%),intermediate type for 1877 persons(45.2%),tending to be unstable type for 420 persons(10.1%),and the unstable type for 742 persons(17.9%);(3)E dimension(internal and external)typical introversion for 399 persons(9.6%),tending to be introverted for 372 persons(9.0%),the intermediate type for 1776 persons(42.8%),tending to be extroverted for 606 persons(14.6%),typical extroversion for 999 persons(24.1%);(4)L dimension(Camouflage)score<38.5 for 1597 persons(38.5%),the score of 38.5~43.3 for 856 persons(20.6%),the score of 43.3~56.7 for 1512 persons(36.4%),and the score of 56.7~61.5 for 153 persons(3.7%),score >61.5 for 34 persons(0.8%);P score of boys were lower than the national norm,and the girls were higher than the norm,N score of boys were higher than the national norm,and the girls were lower than the norm,E score of boys and girls were higher than the national norm,L score of boys and girls were lower than the national norm.2 Hental health of medical freshmen: The SCL-90 total score of medical college freshmen with an average of 146.66±40.67.Among the freshmen,1,239 freshmen had got SCL-90 total score>160,accounting for 29.84%.The total average score was more than 2 for 760 persons,accounting for 18.30%;The total average score was more than 3 for 41 persons,accounting for 0.99%.There were 548 students with mental health problems,and accounting for 13.20%.The compulsive symptoms(8.90%)and the interpersonal sensitivity(5.90%)had the highest positive detection rate.In addition to forced symptoms and terrorist factors,the scores of other factors in medical college freshmen were lower than the national norm.3 Relationship between Personality characteristics and Hental health: P(psychoticism)and N(neuroticism)were positively correlated with SCL-90 factors(P<0.05),and E(internal and external)and L(Camouflage)were negatively correlated with SCL-90 factors(P<0.05).According to the regression analysis of different psychological symptom factors and personality factors,neuroticism entered all regression equations,and the partial regression coefficient was the highest.Conclusion:1 The number of students with intermediate personality are the most in a medical College,and a large number of students with emotional stability and extroversion,and there are fewer people who tended to be mentally and inclined.2 The mental health of freshmen in a medical school is favorable,and the mental health problems are mostly mild.The main psychological problems are compulsive symptoms and interpersonal sensitivity.3 There is a close relationship between the personality characteristics and mental health status of a medical college,The neuroticism characteristics of personality can forecast the mental health. |
