Objective:We sought to evaluate the appropriate UA levels for stroke patients and the association between endogenous UA levels and clinical outcomes in acute ischemic stroke(AIS)patients. Methods:This study collected the patients from Department of Neurology of the second hospital of Hebei Medical University between January 2017 to January2018.Instrict accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria,302 subjects were included in.Fast blood samples were extracted in the next morning after admission for analysis of serum UA.All the patients had a follow-up of 90 days after discharge. The prognosis outcome was evaluated by modified Rankin Scale(mRS)at 90 days. After hospitalization, patients’ data were collected in detail, including gender, age, history of smoking and drinking, risk factors of cerebrovascular disease, medication history,NIHSS score. And the effects of uric acid on the prognosis were statistically analyzed.Results:1.The level of serum uric acid among the patients with acute ischemic stroke is different. The male level is significantly higher than that of the female level.2.Patients were stratified into four groups according to serum UA quartiles.Patients with UA levels 236-301 umol/L had the lowest poor outcome incidence(25.3%),thus the group with UA level 236-301 umol/L was used as a reference.compared to the baseline group(236-301 umol/L),patients who had higher UA levels(≥369 umol/L)or lower UA levels(≤235 umol/L)were 3-8 times more likely to having poor outcome risk.In male patients, compared to the baseline group(322-385 umol/L),patients who had higher UA levels(≥386 umol/L)were 6 times more likely to having poor outcome risk.Infemale subgroup, patients who had higher UA levels(≥316 umol/L)or lower UA levels(≤208 umol/L)were14-17 times more likely to having poor outcome risk. Conclusions:The level of serum uric acid is closely related to the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke,The high or low uric acid level is not beneficial to the prognosis of the patients. The serum uric acid level of the patients with acute ischemic stroke is related to sex,and the male serum uric acid level is higher than that of the female.
