The starch-based superabsorbent resin,witch is prepared by using the starch as raw material,is a polymer biomaterial with high water absorbability and excellent performance of salt tolerance.The starch is a natural organic which is rich in nature.It is nontoxic,easy of access and has good histompatibility.The application of starch is more and more wide in the human life.The products are provided with the advantages of nature and macromolecule and the performance of the product get further optimized through grafting starch onto macromolecular substance.In this article we modified the potato starch multiply by starch carboxymethylation,grafting and surface crosslinking and got the modified composite material.Also we studied the physicochemical properties,hemostatic effect and the safety of the products.1 The potato starch was carboxymethylated by twice steps.Through setting mono-factor experiment about reaction temperature,reaction time,the amount of monochloroacetic acid,the amount of sodium hydroxide and the amount of ethanol,the optimal reaction condition was found as follows:the reaction temperature was 55℃,the reaction time was 6h,the molar ratio of the starch to chloroacetic acid was 1/1.4,the molar ratio of the starch to sodium hydroxide was 1/3,and the volume of 95%ethanol was 100mL.2 The superabsorbent resin was prepared through using the carboxymethyl starch by inverse suspension polymerization.We investigated the influence of some conditions on the properties of products by single factor experiment.These conditions concluded reaction temperature,Acrylic acid neutralization degree,the ratio of acrylic acid and acrylamide,the ratio of monomer and starch,the ratio of the initiator and monomer,the ratio of crosslinker and monomer and the ratio of dispersant and monomer.Then prepared the high starch base absorbent resin with high gel strength,high water absorbing capacity and good resistance against salt.At normal temperatures,the maximum distilled water absorbing capacity is 420g/g.The water absorbing capacity can reach 220 g/g in 2 minutes.3 In consideration of the easy absorption of moisture of the superabsorbent resin and the limited water absorbing capacity,we crosslinked the surface of the superabsorbent resin to increase surface crosslinking degree of the resin,and obtained the resin of dry and high water absorption capacity.The superabsorbent resin per gram can absorb the 100g of distilled water in 30s.We carried out the sterility test on the resin,and didn’t detect the presence of pathogenic microorganisms.4 Use different concentrations of resin extract liquor to cultivate human embryonic kidney cells(HEK),and do the MTT test.Trough observing the cell growth and MTT colorimetric evaluation,we found that the resin had less effect on the cell growth and proliferation compared with control group.5 After dealing the ear and liver of the New Zealand White Rabbit with trauma,we utilized starch-based resin,Yunnan baiyao powder and medical gauze respectively to do hemostatic test.And maked a record of the hemostatic time.The hemostatic time of the starch-based resin to the rabbit ear trauma was 81±9s(and the hemostatic time of the starch-based resin was 175±6s),and to the rabbit liver was 44±5s(and the hemostatic time of the starch-based resin was 44±5s).It displayed a significant difference that hemostatic time of the starch-based resin compared with Yunnan baiyao powder.
