Clinical Trial Of Shu-mu As Major Acupoint In Acupuncture Prescription For Tinnitus Of Kidney Essence Deficiency

ObjectiveComparing the clinical effect of acupuncture prescription mainly using shu-mu points and the routine one,which providing effective treatment for tinnitus of kidney essence deficiency.MethodsThe 66 cases randomly divided into the treatment group and the contro l group.The treatment group used shu-mu points as the major acupoints in the treatment.The control group chooses routine acupuncture prescriptio n.All the patients were evaluated by score of tinnitus severity and tinn itus handicap inventor(THI),and estimated the efficacy difference by th e comparison intra-and inter-group before and after.Results1.Comparison of baseline levels: Before and after the clinical trial,difference of patients’ age,genders,THI in the two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05),suggesting that baseline levels of two groups were consistent.2.Intra-group comparison before and after: There is statistical difference(P>0.05)in Intra-group comparison of the score of tinnitus severity and THI.After the trial,the score of tinnitus severity and THI of two group were both better than the state before,which means that acupuncture therapy can treat tinnitus of kidney essence deficiency.3.Inter-group comparison before and after: Before and after the trial,the comparison of the score of tinnitus severity and THI between the two groups is statistical difference(P>0.05).Total effective rate of treatment group was 75 %,and the control group was 54.84%,there was statistical difference between the two groups(P<0.05).This result shows that using shu-mu points as the major points in acupuncture prescription can is more effective than routine acupuncture prescription.ConclusionThe acupuncture prescription mainly using shu-mu points and the routine one both can improve the tinnitus symptoms of kidney essence deficiency,which are proved positive effect,but the former prescription was better than the latter one.Therefore,using shu-mu points as the major points in acupuncture prescription is a better treatment than routine acupuncture prescription in therapy the tinnitus symptoms of kidney essence deficiency.
