ObjectiveThis research is aim to study the reliability and validity of the International physical activity questionnaire(short form,Chinese version,IPAQ-S-C)and the physical activity level of different TCM syndrome types in the population with chronic kidney disease in Guangzhou. This research will provide a reliable reference for the study of physical activity in the patients with chronic kidney disease.MethodsFrom January 2017 to March 2018,86 patients with chronic kidney disease from the Chronic Disease Management Outpatient Department of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were enrolled and signed the informed consent form.At the first day of the study, demographic characteristics information, diagnosis,TCM syndrome types information were collected from the patients by the case-report-form.After patients completed the first IPAQ-S-C questionnaire, researchers distributed the Actigraph GT3X+ accelerometer, and patients were informed to wear it on the right hip and complete 9 days of continuous recording. In the duration of 9 days recording, patient need to fill in the accelerometer daily log.Patients were followed up for the third week after enrollment and returned the accelerometer and daily log.At the same time, the second IPAQ-S-C questionnaire and physical examination information(height, weight, etc.)in the CRF was completed.Actilife software was used to export and analysis the data of accelerometer.By the test-retest reliability method, the Intra-Class Correlation Coefficient(ICC)was used to evaluate the reliability of twice IPAQ-S-C surveys in time spent of sedentary, walking, moderate physical activity, vigorous physical activity,moderate-vigorous physical activity and total physical activity.Taking the Actigraph GT3 X accelerometer as objective criteria, the Spearman correlation coefficient of individual physical activity level measured by IPAQ-S-C and accelerometer were used to evaluate the validity of the questionnaire. The distribution of physical activity level in different TCM syndrome type groups were also explored.ResultsIn terms of reliability, the ICC of time spent in vigorous physical activity was 0.16(P=0.224).And the ICC of time spent in moderate physical activity,walking,sedentary,moderate-vigorous physical activity and total physical activity were 0.62?0.79?0.82?0.67?0.74,P<0.05,which were statistically significant, indicating that the reliability of the questionnaire was good.In terms of validity, the Spearman coefficient of the individual physical activity level grouping with IPAQ-S-C and accelerometer was 0.23(P=0.034<0.05),indicating that the overall validity was good.In terms of the physical activity level of different TCM syndrome types,by Kruskal-Wallis test, the statistical value of IPAQ-S-C and accelerometer were 3.149(P=0.369)and 0.105(P=0.991),indicating that there was no significant difference in physical activity level among different TCM syndrome types.ConclusionThe International physical activity questionnaire(short form,Chinese version,IPAQ-S-C)has showed good test-retest reliability and criterion validity among 20 to 77 years old patients with chronic kidney disease. It is worth popularizing and applying in the study of physical activity in CKD population. At the same time, there is no significant difference in the physical activity level of different TCM syndrome types in this study. In order to explore the relationship between TCM syndrome types and physical activity level,it is necessary to carry out a larger sample study in the CKD population in the future.
