| PurposePatients with acne vulgaris have been observed to verify the clinical efficacy and to explore the possible treatment mechanism of “Self-blood therapy” applied on the basis of acupuncture. With the score of skin lesion as the main observation index, score of TCX syndrome and living quality as the secondary observation index. The results have suggested new ideas and grounds on the use of “Self-blood therapy” as an additional clinical treatment of acne vulgaris.MethodSixty patients with acne vulgaris were randomly divided into two groups, having both received self-help rehabilitation guidance.Among the sixty patients, thirty of them were put in the control group and treated with simple acupuncture. The other thirty of them were put in the treatment group and treated with “Self-blood therapy” which was based on simple acupuncture, taking “Quchi”,“Sea of blood” and “Zusanli” as the acupuncture points, alternating on both sides,3ml of blood from the median cubital vein was taken and injected into the acupuncture points mentioned above, with regular acupuncture every other day, three times a week.Self-blood therapy was applied every two times of regular acupuncture. With taking two weeks of time as one treatment, the entire treatment process requires two course of treatment in total. The clinical efficacy was then evaluated based on the database developed with data analysed using SPSS 22.0.Results1.There was no significant difference between the observation group and the control group before treatment in terms of age, sex, course of disease, acne type, lesion score,TCM symptom score and quality of life score(P>0.05).2.Results from the observation group and the control group both show that the treatment applied can reduce the patient’s skin lesions score.Within each group before and after comparison, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Differences before and after treatment between two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Results from the observation group and the control group both show that the treatment applied can reduce the TCM symptom scores.Within each group before and after comparison, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),as well as the differences before and after treatment between two groups(P<0.05).4.Results from the observation group and the control group show that the treatment applied can reduce the dermatological quality of life index questionnaire rating.Within each group before and after comparison, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),differences before and after treatment between two groups were also statistically significant(P<0.05).5.The curative effect was evaluated by looking into the rate of skin lesions regression. The effective rate was 89.3% in the observation group and 79.3% in the control group, with significant difference between the two groups statistically(P <0.05).ConclusionSimple acupuncture therapy has shown significant improvements to patience with acne vulgaris. With the additional application of self-blood therapy, better clinical results and effectiveness were given, suggesting that the use of Self-blood therapy combined with acupuncture would bring about significant improvement in the patient’s skin lesions,TCM symptoms, and more importantly the patient’s quality of life.In sum,Self-blood therapy combined with acupuncture can stimulate and regulate body’s immune function, enhance microcirculation, nourish skin,so as to achieve a good result in treating acne vulgaris. |
