Objectives:This study was designed to investigate the mechanism of the blood-activating and stasis-dissolving prescription in the treatment of elderly hypertensive patients complicated observing its effects on the curative effect of TCM symptom and blood pressure, pulse wave velocity(PWV)and reflection wave augmentation index(AI),brachial artery flow-mediated vasodilation(FMD)and to evaluate its syn-5ergistic anti-hypertension and improving effect on arterial function in these patients.Methods:Sixty-four patients with hypertension were randomly divided into 32 cases of "activating blood circulation”group and 32 basic control groups. The two groups were all treated with levamlodipinebesylate tablet(jilin)co.,LTD.,approval number:H19991083)2.5mg daily treatment; The treatment group was treated with self-designed formula for activating blood circulation. The course of treatment was 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, two groups of patients were observed before and after treatment of blood pressure,TCM syndromes,PWV,AI and FMD.Results:1.There was no significant difference in gender and age distribution between the two groups(P>0.05).2.After treatment, both systolic blood pressure(SBP)and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)in both groups were significantly lower than before treatment(P<0.01).Compared with SBP in the two groups after treatment,SBP in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, and P<0.01,with significant difference.Compared with DBP in the two groups after treatment,DBP in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group(DBP),P<0.01,suggesting that the treatment group was significantly better than the control group.3.After treatment, both groups of patients with TCM syndrome differentiation were significantly lower than before treatment(P<0.01).After treatment,TCM syndrome differentiation was lower than that in the control group after treatment, and the treatment group was better than the control group(P<0.05).4.The total effective rate was 90.62%and 81.25%respectively in the treatment group and the control group, indicating that the treatment group was superior to the control group.5.After treatment,PWV in both groups decreased significantly(P<0.01).Compared with PWV in the two groups,PWV was lower than the control group after treatment in the treatment group, and the treatment group was better than the control group(P<0.05).6.After treatment, the AI of both groups decreased significantly(P<0.01).After treatment, the treatment group AI was lower than the control group, and the treatment group was significantly better than the control group(P<0.01).7.The FMD in the treatment group and the control group were significantly higher than that before treatment(P<0.01).After treatment,FMD in the treatment group was significantly better than that in the control group(P<0.01).Conclusions:On the basis of conventional hypotensive therapy,it can further reduce the blood pressure in elderly patients with hypertension. It can improve the clinical symptoms such as dizziness, headache and palpitations in elderly patients with hypertension, and improve the clinical efficacy of TCM syndromes. It can reduce PWV,AI,increase FMD,and improve arterial elasticity in elderly patients with hypertension.
