| Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics and their correlation with prognosis of metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC)patients with bone metastasis(BM).Methods: Clinical data of mCRC patients with BM who were admitted to department of gastrointestinal oncology,Liaoning Cancer Hospital & Institute between January 2015 and October 2017,including gender, age, pathological type and differentiation, initial stage, the time of BM(TBM)from the CRC diagnosis to BM diagnosis, the locations of BM lesions, the numbers of BM lesions, the types of BM lesions, the metastatic condition of other viscera, the occurrence of skeletal-related events(SREs),the survival time after BM and the overall survival(OS),was collected and retrospectively analyzed.SPSS17.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results: 30 mCRC patients with BM were eligible for this study.23(76.7%)patients had two or more BM locations.20(66.7%)patients had pelvis metastasis and 16(56.7%)patients had vertebral column metastasis.Osteolytic BM lesions were found in 22(73.3%)patients.The median time of metachronous BM from the diagnosis of primary tumor to the diagnosis of BM was 19 months(95% CI: 13.0-25.0 months); The median OS was 39 months(95% CI: 23.8-54.2months);The median survival time from the diagnosis of BM was 8 months(95% CI: 0.6-15.4 months).Univariate analysis identified that primary tumor location classified as colon and rectum was significantly correlated with the time of metachronous BM(median time: 15 vs.19 months,P=0.032).Surgery(P<0.001),initial stage(P=0.006)and TBM(P<0.001)were significantly correlated with OS.Multivariate analysis identified that TBM(P=0.008)was independent risk factor of poor OS.Conclusion: Pelvis and vertebral column are the most common locations of BM.Osteolytic BM lesion is the most common type of BM.Most patients have multiple BM lesions.Bone pain is the most common kind of SREs.Colon cancer develops metachronous BM earlier than that of rectum cancer.Surgery, initial stage and TBM were significantly correlated with OS.TBM was a independent risk factor of poor OS. |
