| Objective: Icon resin infiltration and Gluma desensitizer were used to perform desensitization treatment for elderly patients with dentin hypersensitivity in the form of case report,so as to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Icon resin infiltration in elderly patients with dentin hypersensitivity by comparing the dentin sensitivity and clinical efficiency of two groups immediately after desensitization,one month and three months after desensitization.Methods: A total of 40 elderly patients with secondary dentin hypersensitivity caused by severe abrasion were selected,with 80 affected teeth,which used self-control.Two teeth in one case were randomly divided into Icon group and Gluma group with 40 teeth in each group.Case selection: ageā„65 years as well as dentin hypersensitivity,no cracks and fillings,no symptoms of dental pulp and root apex diseases,no recent desensitization treatment recently,no history of periodontal treatment and trauma,no major systemic diseases and mental diseases.Patients signed the informed consent before treatment.Sensitive teeth were examined by temperature examination and probing examination,and dentin sensitivity was recorded and evaluated by visual analogue scale(VAS).Before desensitization,the sensitivity of the teeth was recorded as VAS0.Before the desensitizer was coated,the affected teeth were cleaned,moisturized and coated with desensitizer after drying.In Icon group,99% ethanol was injected into the sensitive teeth after cleaning and moisture insulation and stayed for30 s,and the teeth were dried by blowing gently until they were dried.The saturated resin infiltration dipped in a small brush to rub the teeth,and then the sensitive teeth were dipped and rubbed repeatedly until the osmotic resin was abundant.After 30 seconds of rubbing and staying for 3min under dark conditions,the excess osmotic resin outside the desensitized teeth was removed and irradiated by a curing light for 40 s.The same method was used again.Rubbing,standing for 1 minute,removing the excess resin outside the desensitized tooth surface,irradiating 40 s with curing light,Tornado polishing wheel gently moves to polish tooth desensitization surface.In Gluma group,a small amount of Gluma desensitizer was dipped with a small brush and applied to the sensitive teeth surface at one time.After uniform application,it was kept for 60 s.The desensitized tooth surface was gently blown away with an air gun until the solution disappears,repeat according to this method,and finally rinse the desensitized tooth surface with distilled water.After desensitization,the dental sensitivity was recorded as VAS1 immediately after desensitization in both groups.After the desensitization treatment was completed,a follow-up examination was conducted at 1month and 3 months,and the tooth sensitivity was checked and recorded as VAS2,VAS3.Do not receive other forms of desensitization treatment,supragingival scaling and subgingival scaling during the follow-up visit.If there are any other discomfort symptoms after desensitization treatment,timely follow-up should be conducted.Results:(1)Through the analysis and the comparison of VAS value after desensitization treatment,the VAS value of Icon group was significantly lower than that of Gluma group immediately,1 month and 3 months after desensitization treatment,and the VAS value had statistical significance between the two groups by statistical analysis(P < 0.05).(2)By comparing the clinical effective rates after desensitization treatment: the effective rates of the two groups were 95% and 92.5% immediately after desensitization treatment respectively and there was no difference between two groups by statistical analysis(P > 0.05);after one month of desensitization treatment,the effective rates of the two groups were 90% and 80%,respectively,and there was no difference between two groups by statistical analysis(P > 0.05);after three months of desensitization treatment,the effective rates of the two groups were 87.5% and 65%respectively,and statistical analysis showed that the effective rate was significantlydifferent(P < 0.05).Conclusion:(1)The tooth sensitivity of Icon resin infiltration was significantly lower than that of Gluma desensitizer immediately,1 month and 3 months after desensitization.(2)The clinical efficacy of Icon resin infiltration was significantly higher than that of Gluma desensitizer 3 months after desensitization.Icon resin infiltration is more effective than Gluma desensitizer in the treatment of elderly patients with dentin hypersensitivity caused by severe abrasion.Icon resin infiltration has no cytotoxicity,quick onset and lasting curative effect,and can be used in clinical desensitization treatment. |
