Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)concentration and clinical characteristics of hepatitis B virus(HBV)related primary liver cancer(PLC),to explore the relationship between serum AFP concentration and HBV-DNA load in HBV-related PLC patients, and to analyze the relationship between anti-HBV treatment and serum AFP concentration. Methods:A retrospective analysis was made on 519 HBV-related PLC patients hospitalized in the Affiliated Hospital of Yanbian University from January 2009 to December 2018.The data of sex, age, nationality, history of diabetes mellitus, serum AFP concentration,HBV-DNA load,Child-pugh grading of liver function, tumor size, portal vein cancer thrombus formation and history of anti-HBV treatment were analyzed. To clarify the relationship between serum AFP concentration and clinical characteristics, serum AFP concentration and HBV-DNA load, serum AFP concentration and anti-HBV treatment or not.Results:1.There were 418 males and 101 females with HBV-related PLC.The ratio of males to females was 4.14:1,287 males(68.7%)and 78 females(77.2%)were AFP-positive,P=0.091.There was no significant difference between the two groups. There was no significant difference in AFP positive rate among different nationalities(P=0.381).There was no significant difference in the number of AFP positive persons among different age groups(P=0.252).2.The relationship between serum AFP concentration and tumor size and portal vein cancer thrombus formation and operation in HBV-related PLC patients was statistically significant(P<0.05).The large diameter of tumors and the formation of portal vein tumor thrombus were independent predictors of the elevated serum AFP concentration, and the OR value was more than 1.3.The relationship between serum AFP concentration and HBV-DNA load in patients with HBV-related PLC was analyzed. The results showed that there was no significant difference correlation between AFP concentration and HBV-DNA load,P=0.379,r=0.051.4.There was no significant difference in the relationship between serum AFP concentration and anti-HBV treatment in patients with HBV-related PLC(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.The AFP positive rate of HBV-related PLC patients is not related to gender, age and nationality.2.Large tumor diameter and portal vein cancer thrombus formation is independent predictors of elevated serum AFP concentration.3.There is no significant correlation between serum AFP concentration and HBV-DNA load.4.There is no effect of anti-HBV treatment on AFP.
