Objective In this paper,we used the detection of end-tidal NO level as a guide to analyze the correlation between end-tidal NO levels and various lung function indicators before and after treatment in asthma patients, and to clarify the clinical significance of fractional exhaled nitric oxide. Methods The basic information about the asthma group(mainly in name, gender, age, height, disease diagnosis, cardinal symptoms and physical examination, etc.)was collected. The test results of FeNO values, lung function parameters [first expiratory volume in one second(FEV1],ratio of first expiratory volume in one second to predicted value(FEV1%),[forced expiratory volume in one second/Forced vital capacity ratio(FEV1/FVC)] were recorded before treatment and 3 months after inhalation of salmeterol.Eighty healthy people who were admitted to our hospital in the same period were selected as the control group, and general information of healthy groups was also collected. Results 1.Before treatment, the FeNO value in the asthma group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The FEV1% and FEV1/FVC indicators in the asthma group were lower than the control group(P< 0.05);2.The FeNO value of asthma group was higher than that of the control group after 3 months of treatment(P<0.05).The FEV1% value of asthma group was lower than that of the control group(P>0.05),and FEV1/FVC indicators was lower than the control group(P<0.05).3.The FeNO value after 3 months of treatment in the asthma group was significantly lower than that before treatment(P<0.05)and the FEV1% and FEV1/FVC indicators were higher than those before treatment(P<0.05);4.Before treatment, the FeNO level in the asthma group was not negatively correlated with the FEV1% index(r=-0.538,P<0.05);the FeNO level was negatively correlated with the FEV1/FVC index(r=-0.502,P<0.05);5.There was no correlation between FeNO and FEV1%(r=-0.174,P=0.080)in the asthma group after 3 months of treatment;there was no correlation between the FeNO indicators and the FEV1/FVC indicators after treatment(r=-0.159,P=0.102).Conclusions 1.In the treatment of asthma, the FeNO can effectively express the clinical therapeutic effect. As a predictor of the clinical efficacy of asthma treatment, the FeNO value of the pre-treatment asthma patients showed a negative correlation with the FEV1% value, and no correlation was found after the treatment.2.FeNO presents with reference value in the disease control for asthma patients;hence, the clinical treatment of asthma patients should combine FeNO with lung function indicators.
