Objective Studies have shown that lipid accumulation index(LAP)is associated with insulin resistance(IR)in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS),and better predictive of IR than abdominal circumference(WC)and body mass index(BMI).This study systematically evaluated the correlation between LAP and IR in patients with PCOS by meta-analysis.Methods Two independent observers searched about lipid accumulation index and insulin resistance in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome in six databases including Cochrane,PubMed,EMBASE,Wanfang Database,Weipu Chinese Science and Technology Journal, and China Knowledge Network from the database construction to October 2018.The literature was rigorously screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the quality of the literature was evaluated using the cross-sectional study bias risk assessment criteria developed by the Australian Joanna Evidence-Based Nursing Center(JBI).The effect index was extracted and the relationship between lipid accumulation index and insulin resistance was analyzed by R language. Results After screening researches,8 studies were eventually included, including 1032 patients meeting the inclusion criteria.Among the included studies, there are 4 Chinese studies and 4 English studies. The analysis showed that the lipid accumulation index was moderately correlated with insulin resistance, and the correlation coefficient r was 0.5990(95% confidence interval:0.4087-0.7394).In addition,we analyzed the correlation between LAP and IR in the Chinese population. The results showed a moderate correlation between0.5752(95% confidence interval: [0.5015;0.6407]),consistent with the overall findings. Conclusion Lipid accumulation index is moderately correlated with insulin resistance and may be a reliable predictor of insulin resistance. However, since most of the studies included in this study are cross-sectional studies, and there is the possibility of detection bias and publication bias, the conclusion may have certain effects. In the future, more and more large-scale sample studies are needed to further verify.
