Historical Study Of “Manchuria Medical University”

During the invasion to China,Japan set up numerous universities for service,and “Manchuria Medical University” was one of them.Studying of “Manchuria Medical University” can enrich the existing records about Japanese education during Japan’s invasion to China,deepen people’s understanding of Japan’s establishment of universities in China,and help people develop a better understanding of Japan’s intention to comprehensively invade China through economic,educational and medical means.This paper studies “Manchuria Medical University” in four parts.The first part introduces the origin of “Manchuria Medical University”.Upgraded from “South Manchuria Medical College”,“Manchuria Medical University” was one of the institutions established by “South Manchuria Railway Company”.And the establishment of “South Manchuria Medical College” was included in Japan’s invasion to China and the management of Manchuria.In the era of “South Manchuria Medical College”,the college developed.Thereafter,based on Japan’s national policy objectives,it was upgraded to “Manchuria Medical University”.The second part discusses the teaching activities in “Manchuria Medical University” and how they were organized.At that time,“Manchuria Medical University” was one of the top five medical universities in Japan.It was a university with high level of teachers and facilities in northeast China,and its teaching activities were full of Japanese characteristics.The students and staff there were mostly Japanese,with a small number of Chinese.There were many affiliated organizations,such as subsidiary hospitals,nursing schools and “pioneering” medical institutions.The third part gives examples and analysis of the medical research and practice activities in “Manchuria Medical University”,including the special research conducted by “Manchuria Medical University” and the investigation activities on eastern Mongolia.Among them,the special researches carried out by the university included living bacteria experiments,vivisection experiments and endemic disease researches.The fourth part analyzes the evolution of “Manchuria Medical University” and its role,aiming at explaining the essence of its existence and revealing the fact that it assisted Japan in its aggression against China.Japan’s establishment of schools and education for students in Northeast China was a form of Japanese invasion to China.And “Manchuria Medical University” had its own uniqueness as a form of the invasion.As the university was established by Japan in northeast China and had medical and military attributes,it played a more important role in the process of Japan’s invasion to China than other Japanese universities.Pretending to offer medical education,“Manchuria Medical University” in fact carried out slavish education for Chinese students,transferred talents for Japanese aggression institutions,paralyzed people in Chinese medical treatment areas and engaged in medical criminal activities.
