| Objective:To observe the difference in salt intake between different traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome types of hypertensive patients, and the correlation between salt intake and ambulatory blood pressure indicators.Try to explore the pathogenesis based on TCM theories.Method:90 cases of hypertensive patients were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and divided into 4 TCM syndrome types, including liver-yang sputum, blood stasis,phlegm-dampness congestion, and kidney deficiency. All patients underwent general investigation, blood pressure measurement, salt threshold test, and 24h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Some patients measured 24h sodium concentration, compared with salt threshold results. After summarizing the data, statistic analysis was applied to evaluate the correlation between salt intake and TCM syndrome types,as well as ambulatory blood pressure indicators.Results:1.There was no statistical difference in the general distribution of gender, smoking history, drinking history, family history and BMI between the 4 groups of TCM syndrome types(P>0.05).The age of patients with kidney deficiency syndrome was higher than that of the other 3 groups(P<0.05);2.There was a statistically difference in taste self-assessment between patients with different salt thresholds(P<0.05).Salt threshold was positively correlated with 24h sodium concentration(rs=0.592),yet salt threshold level was irrelevant to prevention knowledge(rs=0.066);3.The salt threshold distribution of 4 TCM syndrome types was different(P<0.05).The trend of salt intake in each group was evaluated as:kidney deficiency>liver yang sputum>blood stasis>phlegm-dampness congestion;4.Salt threshold was positively correlated with 24h mean blood pressure(mean systolic blood pressure r,=0.338,mean diastolic blood pressure r=0.271).Salt threshold was irrelevant to blood pressure variability and circadian rhythm(rs<0.09).Conclusions:1.Patients of kidney deficiency type are older than other TCM syndrome patients;2.Salt threshold tablets have the ability to distinguish the differences in tastes of individuals, and to correctly reflect salt intake of patients;3.Salt intake of patients with kidney deficiency syndrome is at a high level, corresponding to the TCM theory-"salt into kidney";4.The blood pressure of patients with high salt intake is more significant,so the salt-limited diet of hypertensive patients is necessary. |
