OBJECTIVE: Obesity and related diseases have become a serious social problem. To study the clinical efficacy of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG)in the treatment of obesity,to explore the standardized process of surgical treatment of obesity, and to compare the changes of blood pressure before and after surgery.METHODS: We collected obese patients who came to the hospital from January 2015 to May 2017 for surgery, and screened 60 patients aged 18-65 years with BMI >30concurrent LSG for 1 year Follow-up study. The average age of the patients was35.9±10.1 years, and the preoperative average body mass index was 42.0±8.9.Most patients had obesity-related diseases.Changes in body weight, blood pressure, glucose and lipid metabolism, and improvement of obesity-related diseases were recorded before surgery and from day 1 to month 12 after surgery.RESULTS: Sixty patients with obesity successfully completed the operation without conversion to open surgery and death. The excess body weight loss(EWL)at 6 and 12 months after LSG was 72.6 ± 22.3% and 83.1 ± 19.3%,respectively.At 12 months postoperatively, the mean body mass index and body weight decreased by 14.1 kg / m2 and 39 kg,respectively. In 12 months,86%(15/18)of patients with dyslipidemia were resolved.Diabetes was cured in 6% of patients in 6 months,78% of patients had joint pain relief, and 86% of patients no longer had sleep apnea syndrome within 12 months. The blood pressure of some hypertensive patients returned to normal on the first postoperative day.A significant decrease in blood pressure was observed within 10 days after surgery. At 12 months after surgery, the cure rate for hypertension reached 87%.Our work shows that obesity-related diseases after LSG are effectively improved or cured. Also,LSG lowers blood pressure before significantly reducing weight. Conclusion: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is a safe and effective method for the treatment of obesity and related diseases.Regulating the operation and adhering to follow-up is the key to maintaining efficacy.LSG has an effect on blood pressure in obese patients at an early stage, which occurs before significant weight loss, indicating that the observed changes in blood pressure may have different mechanisms from weight loss, requiring further research and long-term follow-up.
