Clinical Evaluation Of Ultrasonic Periodontal Therapeutic Instrument In The Treatment Of Chronic Periodontitis

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of new piezoelectric ceramic periodontal therapy apparatus and magnetostrictive periodontal therapy apparatus in the treatment of chronic periodontitis,to evaluate the degree of damage of the two kinds of periodontal therapy apparatus,and to explore the clinical application prospect of new piezoelectric ceramic periodontal therapy apparatus,so as to provide a new reference for minimally invasive and comfortable periodontal treatment.Methods: Forty-five patients with chronic periodontitis were randomly divided into control group and experimental group after one week of supragingival scaling.The experimental group was cured with a new piezoelectric ceramic ultrasonic periodontal therapy apparatus and the control group was cured with a magnetostrictive ultrasonic periodontal therapy apparatus.Total periodontal depth(PD),attachment loss(AL),plaque index(PLI),bleeding index(BI)were recorded before and three months after subgingival scaling,and the pain was assessed by visual analogue scale(VAS).Twenty-four orthodontic extracted teeth were randomly divided into six groups: new type piezoelectric ceramic enamel group(C1),new piezoelectric ceramic bone group(C2),magnetostrictive enamel group(D1),magnetostrictive bone group(D2),traditional ultrasonic enamel group(E1),traditional ultrasonic bone group(E2).A sample piece was prepared and one specimen was randomly selected for each group.The surface morphology of the specimen was examined by atomic mechanics microscope and the roughness changes before and after the treatment of three kinds of instruments were calculated.Results: Three months after Ultrasonic Subgingival curettage,the total periodontal depth(PD),attachment loss(AL),plaque index(PLI),bleeding index(BI)in the experimental group and the control group were significantly improved(P < 0.05),and there was no significant difference between the two groups(P > 0.05);there was no significant difference in VAS score between the two groups(p > 0.05).The roughness of tooth surface and root surface were increased by using new piezoelectric ceramic ultrasonic periodontal therapy instrument,magnetic telescopic ultrasonic periodontal therapy instrument and traditional ultrasonic instrument(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in roughness between the new piezoelectric ceramic ultrasonic periodontal therapy instrument and the magnetic telescopic ultrasonic periodontal therapy instrument(p > 0.05),but the two ultrasonic instruments were compared with the traditional ultrasonic instrument.There was significant difference in roughness(P < 0.05).Conclusion: The application of the new piezoelectric ceramic ultrasonic periodontal apparatus and the magnetostrictive periodontal apparatus for the treatment of chronic periodontitis patients can achieve good clinical results and bring a more comfortable treatment experience to patients,and also take smaller damage to the tooth surface and root surface,they two can be used as a safe,comfortable and effective treatment in clinic.
