Objective: Trough the study of the correlation between serum uric acid and VEGF and sVCAM-1 in peritoneal dialysis patients, and then to explore the effect of serum uric acid level on vascular endothelial function in these patients. Methods: By using our hospital’s electronic medical record software,we collected the clinical data of the patients who were regularly treated with peritoneal dialysis in the department of nephrology of our hospital from October 2016 to October 2017.In the end,70 patients met our inclusion and exclusion criteria and were included in our study.Inclusion criteria: The patients(18 to 80 years old) who were diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and has been treated with Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis more than three months are included in this experiments.Exclusion criteria: There are some circumstances need to excluded in this research, including the patients with coronary heart disease, heart failure(NYHA class Ⅲ to Ⅳ),severe peripheral vascular disease;the patients who have smoking habits, diabetes, gout;the patients who are stricken with malignant tumor and connective tissue disease, severe infection, severe liver dysfunction;and those who have used allopurinol and other acid-lowering drugs or diuretic that excretes uric acid;those who have used ACEI and ARB or statins in thelast six month;those who have supplemented with folic acid and vitamins in the last six month;those who have treated with kidney transplantation and those who disagree with getting involved in this research.By using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),the levels of VEGF and sVCAM-1could be measured. All subjects were divided into two groups according to the patient’s median uric acid level.Group A: serum uric acid level < 424.9umol/L(35 cases),Group B: serum uric acid level ≥424.9umol/L(35 cases).Throught the comparsion and constract about the levels of VEGF and sVCAM-1 between groups A and B,then we can explore the relationship between serum uric acid level and VEGF and sVCAM-1 in peritoneal dialysis patients. Results: 1.The levels of serum uric acid in group A and group B were358.85±42.06umol/L and 518.88±78.97umol/L,respectively(P<0.05).2.The serum levels of VEGF and sVCAM-1 in group B were significantly higher than those in group A,the levels were(139.82±21.10pg/ml vs165.54±25.11pg/ml,7.69±1.50ng/ml vs 9.09±1.58ng/ml)(P<0.05).3.Pearson correlation analysis showed that VEGF,sVCAM-1 were positively correlated with serum uric acid(P<0.05),Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed VEGF and sVCAM-1 were independently associated with serum uric acid, and body mass index was independently associatied with VEGF(P<0.05).Conclusion: The serum VEGF and sVCAM-1 levels were significantly increased in peritoneal dialysis patients with elevated uric acid levels, and the serum uric acid level was positively correlated with VEGF and sVCAM-1,which indicating that elevated uric acid levels in peritonealdialysis patients may be one of the potential risky factors for vascular endothelial dysfunction.
