Study On The Dilemma And Social Work Of Mental Patients In Rehabilitation

This article is an exploratory and descriptive study of the social support dilemma of hospitalized psychiatric patients.Based on the theory of “care for the quadrilateral”and social support theory under the theory of welfare pluralism,the researchers regard medical system support,government support,family support and social support as an interrelated four dimensions of social support sources for inpatient psychiatric patients,and From these four dimensions,the following two questions are discussed: First,the type of social support in the “care quadrilateral” for the mentally ill patients in the rehabilitation period;and second,how the social work provides assistance to intervene in the solution of the above dilemma.This article uses the literature method,field observation,and in-depth interview to collect and analyze the data.It is found that the mentally ill patients in the rehabilitation period of the S hospital in Anhui Province encounter the following obstacles: the complexity of the disease itself makes the treatment difficult,the family economy The pressure is greater.Moreover,the professional hegemony of medical personnel in the process of medical diagnosis and treatment makes the communication between medical staff and patients and their families difficult,and it is easy to cause contradiction between doctors and patients;mental patients and their families have insufficient knowledge of mental illness,resulting in caring for patients.Family members are under greater pressure;the government’s problems with welfare support for mentally ill patients and the shortage of social services have greatly increased the difficulty of patients and their families in seeking medical care and the difficulty of rehabilitation.The stigmatization of mental illness by the public and the self-denial of the patient itself make it difficult for patients to complete thesocialization process during the rehabilitation period.The problems of hospitals and medical services support,family system support,government welfare support and social environment support are mutually influential and restrictive,which also brings more difficulties to mental patients and their families.According to the above dilemmas,the author used social work cases and group work methods to intervene in solving problems,and received remarkable results: First,use the humanistic concept of social work to melt the "freezing" of medical models;Second,carry out social work services.Assist patients and their families to reduce the burden caused by diseases;Third,call for and advocate the support and tolerance of the government and the public for mentally ill patients and their families.
