Background: This study demonstrated whether without the drainage tube will affect the postoperative wound recovery and functional of patients with pelvic surgery. Methods: All pelvic fractures treated with modified Stoppa approach were retrospectively reviewed during 2012 August to 2017 August.43 patients were enrolled in this study.22 patients used the drainage tube postoperatively as group A,and 21 patients without drainage tube as group B.All patients were evaluated postoperatively using Harris score. At the same time, the surgical incision, antibiotic application and hospitalization days were evaluated comprehensively. Results: No infection case had been found both with drainage and without drainage groups. All the patients got a primary healing of surgical incision. The application of antibiotics showed no difference between the two groups(5.00 and 4.00 days,respectively,P=0.924).The effect of antibiotics on surgical recovery was eliminated. The length of stay in hospital was founded to be 18.50 and 19.00 days respectively, and there was no significant influence between the two groups(P=0.246).There was no significant difference in operating time(150.23± 52.43 and 138.81±41.23 minutes,respectively,P=0.433)and blood loss(604.55± 387.27 and 580.95±274.99 ml,respectively,P=0.784).The average Harris score(96 and 96,respectively,P=0.607)indicated no statistic difference between the two groups. Conclusion: There is no significant influence of the application of drainage on recovery of wound or function for patients with pelvic surgery.
